I have an emergency lighting system that is set up in one of my apartment buildings which uses Solar panels, batteries and an assortment of 12V "RV" light fixtures. This panel meter by FainWan is the perfect companion to my setup for monitoring the voltage level. It is well made, works like a champ, and looks great. This is a very nice, compact volt meter for any application from 12v to 24v.I ran the unit down to 9vDC and up to 24vDC and found that the displayed voltage on the meter was exactly .1 volt less that my DC voltage regulator showed. To be fair, I have never calibrated the voltage regulator to that degree of accuracy. The meter could well be displaying the accurate voltage.The unit does not have plate of glass or plastic in front of the display numbers. I don't see that as a disadvantage at all - in fact, I see that as a plus. First, you will not get any glare from a front panel because it's not there! Second, after a year or two of cleaning your gauge, any plastic is going to pick up small scratches. No way it won't. And that is going to degrade the display ever more. Best left exactly as it is.As for mounting, all you need do is drill and/or file out a 1 1/8" hole (29mm) in the position you want, and drop this unit in. My did not come with an outside bezel, so you need to take a bit of care not to make the mounting hole too big!Simple "negative" and "positive" male spade connectors at the back, and the manufacture includes two female spade connectors to connect to the gauge.The display is bright and easy to read. I did not test the unit for water tightness, but it is stated to be "waterproof". This should mean that mounting the unit on your boat should not present any issues.Bottom line - an accurate, easy to install and highly useful gauge for pretty much anything that runs on 12-24vDC. All good, nothing bad!

Right now I am putting this through some tests before I install it in my car.First I ran it with an ammeter inline trying to determine if this would drain a battery if left on all the time.I guess my multimeter isn't sensitive enough, because I could not get a reading on any setting... so I believe this draws very little power to run the display.Next I just wired it to a 12v battery just to see how long it takes to drop 0.1v with no other load on the battery. I'm going to leave it plugged in for days just to see what happens.The reason is because I would like to install this in my car wired to an always live circuit so I can see the standing voltage when the car is off -- and could see the voltage the alternator is putting out when the car is on.If this draws as little amperage as it seems, then this will be ideal for this. The display is bright and easy to read. It comes with a couple spade connectors.

This is a simple and effective volt meter that mounts in a single round hole.Mine consistently reads about 0.1 V below the actual voltage (conjuring to a calibrated precision meter).The display is very bright but does not have any protective covering over the LED display modules in the face of the unit.Decent little meter but accuracy may not be great.

I used this volt meter to put in place of an hour meter on a zero turn mower. Works great! Let’s me know at a glance if system is charging without wiring in an amp meter.
