To install (or replace) the AAA batteries one must unscrew a screw at the front and remove the lens (3 pieces) and slide out a battery compartment. Even when new (prior to mounting) this is weirdly complicated, with many parts to drop or lose. When the unit is mounted to a wall or ceiling it will be even more cumbersome and time consuming (in example doing this while standing on a ladder). I'm returning them and will purchase a product that has much simpler (better) design.

Here are the "good" and "bad" on this product...ADVANTAGES.1. The price is cheap..2. The majority of the Amazon user reviews consists of four and five stars..3. The red LED blinks every five seconds and is noticeable at a distance during the day and night..4. From a short distance, the product looks realistic enough to fool anyone. In fact, our mailman often look up, smile, and wave at the cameras after a delivery. On June 27, 2018, a Seattle investigating detective left her card in my mailbox. A criminal incident occurred in my neighborhood. She wanted to examine the recordings on my security cameras. The woman smiled, when she was told that the units were fake...DISADVANTAGES.1. There are quality problems. For example, the product is constructed of cheap plastic. The blinking LED is off center. The flimsy parts bend easily. . . . At $6.24 each, the user can not expect better stuff..2. One of the three units was missing the package of three screws and plastic anchors..3. The screws that hold the parts together are cheap and fragile. The slots on the screw head began to wear when the fasteners are tighten...---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------..UPDATE 1: The company has a superb customer service. The department responded within 24 hours. Replacements for the missing items arrived within two days..UPDATE 2: One year later, I ordered four more units to cover the garage and back. Little has changed - the same quality problems exist. Of the bunch, the heads of two screws stripped. Another two broke during insert into house siding. Like the previous experience, replacements arrived within two days..UPDATE 3: Two years later, I ordered three more units to cover my garden and storage areas. Nothing has changed. The screws are just as cheaply made and weak. One broke during insertion..UPDATE 4: I ordered six units for my parents' house. Unfortunately, the quality has gone down on this product. Of the six, two were DOA - the LED refused to blink.

Looks good from a few feet away but feels cheap (esp the mounts), the LEDs are slightly off center and crooked and supplied screws are weak. Overall for what it is, it will serve it purpose especially if hidden behind glass or under a cover so it is protected from the elements. One of my family member has the same one and has held up great for over a year but it is protected from the elements.
