Great setup! If you want to add a depth finder without adding a hole to your hull this is it!The display is a standard no frills display- visible in daylight has a few options- no complaints! The transducer is a good size (2 hockey pucks stacked) an gets glued directly to the hull (somewhere in bilge). You will need silicone glue to adhere the transducer housing and a cup of antifreeze to fill the housing.

They work well, and last a long time. Make sure you bed the transducer well. If the fluid leaks out of the cup, the transducer will overheat.

I needed to replace my Garmin depth sounder and the Garmin i40 model would not shoot through the fiberglass hull for reading the depth. I bought this Faria Brand unit, which has a more powerful sending transponder unit and it worked where the Garmin i40 did not. With a little wire splicing I got the Garmin to take the input from this unit. Both units use the same brand of transponder. So now I can use the much better Garmin display and have mounded this smaller Faria display at the nav station.

Everthing - wiring, the body is fine, just quit sending a signal. Wish there were other companies but I understand this company makes all the transducers for Garmin etc. You can tell when a company has a monopoly,

The install instructions can be a little intimidating on this product, but I purchased with the adhesive that Amazon recommends (items typically bought together) and it works great. You have to know the angle of your hull, which I had to measure. I did this with a 4' level. From the very bottom (keel) of the boat, put the level perpendicular. Then measure the rise over run at the spot you plan to install and you can calculate the angle. I put mine at the very back of the boat under the motor, right beside the old transponder which didn't work any more. After that just follow the instructions. The meter itself was a direct replacement in my dashboard so this was no big deal.I only wish Faria made this with a black trim. All my instrumentation is black. I spray painted it and it looks good.

The first one I bought had great claims but no support. This one worked perfectly. Here is my advice: Question the cable length. Don't let them sell you one and then tell you you need to buy a cable extender that doesn't have connectors. After trying all the "old" puck immersion techniques (each failed) an old boat guy said "fill it with a tube of CLEAR SEALANT and forget it" - worked like a charm, accurate to the inch. Now if it quits (hardwired, on all the time) all I have to do is pop it out and replace the gauge.

Installed easily in my Bayliner 215 deck boat. Bought the in hull transducer. To test proper placement before gluing it in with epoxy. I cut the bottom of a plastic container that was the same diameter as the transducer. Cleaned the place it was going with a cleaner and the acetone. Tacked in the plastic container with silicone. Once that dried I coated the bottom of the transducer with vasaline about an inch thick. Put in the container on the boat floor twisted it one way than the other to remove air bubbles. Better to make sure the spot works this way than digging the transducer out of epoxy to move it. I have a fish finder that works up to 15 to 20 miles an hour. So this is double the protection from sand bars. So far it is very accurate. A piece of advice from someone who has had to flush beach sand from my inboard and two thermostats. DON'T EVER GO OUT WITH OUT ONE!!
