It was never explained in the item description, but it needs a clear area to mount an L bracket, 27-30” back from the ball on each side of the trailer. I only have it a 3 because I wasn’t able to use it.The company I bought it from is a different story. They do not respond to email, calls, or messages over Amazon. I did get my refund for the hitch, but have not been refunded for the $123.87 for return shipping. I never would have bought this if I knew about where the L bracket needed to be mounted.
