I got my dad one for Father's Day. After sharpening it up good we used it on some pecan trees and had good results. Id say where technique is most important, it helps to have the right tool. If it is good enough for nut trees, it'll do whatever. You should get it real sharp for nice clean cuts.

Well made, durable, sharp edge that stays sharp. Single bevel, which is essential for grafting. The shape of the blade, rectangular with a beveled edge on the blunt side, works great for both grafting and removing loose bark, a handy tool when looking for codling moths. There are less expensive knives, but the quality of this one makes it a great value for the money.

I am new to grafting and decided to purchase this knife as it has a bark lifter and single sided cutting edge. I tried it out and found that I could simply use a desposable razor blade knife (cheaper) to do veneer and stump grafting. I see why a single side cutting edge would be beneficial in making shallow cuts, but I was able to control a double sided blade and do the same thing. The knife is a well made knife. Very solid and good quality. However, the blade does not securely lock into place so when one uses the bark lifter one has to hold onto the blade itself to pry open the cambium layer. This exposes your fingers to a very sharp blade. If you held onto the handle portion the blade while twisting and prying with the bark lifter it can snap shut possibly catching flesh on it's way. It scared me enogh to not use the lifter. I instead purchased a two pack of micro lab spoons. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XJPJJM3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) . Search Amazon for lab spatulas. The bowl shape of the spoon forces the bark open with the flat side of the spoon being pushed downward into the cambium layer.

Grafting knives are difficult to find. This one is sharp and well made. Very suitable for citrus bud grafts.

I like the fact the blade is on the slim side, the side of the blade is nice for pealing the bark before inserting a bud/scion.It came sharp but with a small carbide sharpener, it's now razor sharp.

Likes-Sharp 1-sided blade produces smooth, even, level cuts on cherry scions-thin polished bark lifter for lifting bark with minimal to no tearing-good detents to keep knife semi-locked open-red color for ease of spotting if dropped on ground-solid constructionDislikes-back of blade juts out of handle in closed position which may be a bit worrisome it could open while in the pocket but the spring seems to be strong enough to hold it in closed position. Very minor dislike reallyI also have the black-handled victorinox grafting knife with a separate redundant brass bark lifter. It's good also but this red one seems to make smoother cuts.

Hello, beautiful knife. You function as I need and look so perfect. It's great to have a knife that is dedicated to the specific task of grafting. I grafted many trees this spring and altogether impressed with the craftsmanship of this tool. The blade is a perfect length and has the single bevel that takes sharpening well. It's perfectly lightweight. It is my favorite grafting knife. You will love it.
