I had to drop the oil pan in my 2006 Sierra and when this is done, you need to replace the gasket and assemble everything back. If your engine is hanging on the stand, with clear access everywhere, you may want to skip these snap-ups, but if you are on the ground, underneath your vehicle, and there are multiple things in the way, this $12 investment makes perfect sense. I got a set of four for my project, but ultimately used only three of them - two in the back of the block and one in the front. You install them in place of the regular pan bolts, then install the gasket, and then push the pan in place. Then install a couple of pan bolts and remove the snap-ups. Continue the install. The time between installing the snap-ups and tightening the pan bolts is about ten minutes. The best thing about them is no fuss, no messing around with holes not aligning, none of that stuff. It's like you got the third hand. If you are working alone and you need to finish this job, spend the few bucks and get this useful tool. And yes, these snap-ups are reusable.

These make mounting an oil pan in place after applying gasket adhesive easy. You might not think it but definitely a must have tool.
