This doesn't fit early model heads, the bolt holes are to small and will not fit the 5/16" stock bolts.

Will not work on early 300 motor without removing the metal rings in the bolt holes. Because the bolts are 5/16", the newr model engines are 1/4"

I used the Fel-Pro VS 50028 R blue silicone gasket on my 1984 F150 "Bullnose" with the carbureted 4.9L 300 I6 ( straight six ) and it was an identical match and I have no leaks. These trucks after sitting a few months if not driven regularly can bend a pushrod like mine did when it was trying to pressurize the old hydraulic lifters. These silicone gaskets are reliable for re-using multiple times unlike the crappy cork gasket material. The only valve cover and oil pan gaskets you can find for the 1980-1986 F Series trucks with the 4.9L straight six are cork. So I said screw that and bought the silicone gasket and the cork. When I laid the blue silicone on top of the cork one they were identical. Just in case someone else was wondering the same thing I was. See attached pictures.

VERY nice gasket. Tabs hold it in place and reduce the chance of having it squish out of place. This is the gasket to get if you hate leaks. It you tolerate them buy a cheap cork gasket.

I installed this valve cover gasket on a 1995 Ford Pickup with the 300ci 4.9L 6 cylinder. Its Fel-pro's blue rubber material that I have had the best luck with of all aftermarket gaskets. After cleaning everything really well, install the gasket dry and torque down the cover to spec. So far I've never had a leak when using one of these gaskets. Watch out for those vacuum lines since they are brittle now, and you will need the upper intake manifold gasket because unless it is just replaced last week, it will break when you take off the upper intake.

This is another typical high quality Fel-Pro product. It is silicon rubber (or something similar) it has the torque stop inserts at all of the bolt holes. I tightened this by hand, feeling for what I thought was 'about right', which is just not the way to tighten a valve cover.I haven't had any leaks, the engine has 260k miles on it and the valve cover used to leak. I think that the silicon rubber construction and torque limiters are why I've had good luck with this.I wonder if purple lok-tite wouldn't also be a great addition to the process of replacing a valve cover gasket.

I would highly recommend Fel-Pro gaskets for any project. This fit my F150 perfectly and was very easy to install in my driveway.
