Okay, so I have to be honest. Looking in the cupboard and just seeing this sitting there is kind of disturbing so I ended up fashioning a sort of loin cloth that I drape over it (an old dishtowel). But the reason it's so disturbing is that it's so good. I used to teach medical school but needed a more consistent life so teach high school anatomy and physiology and run the pre-med club. This is exactly the same position and so forth as they had for models at the medical school except that this one is half size so it doesn't use up as much of my precious space. It comes with a little speculum and you can actually see the cervix, etc. So yeah, kind of disturbing. I haven't used the speculum with the students but it would be amazing for teaching women what actually happens during an exam. For my A&P, I only show the model from the waist side or split in half to show how the anatomy fits together. I don't think the examination view is helpful at this age.Plan for how you'll store it and practice how you'll handle it around the students, but this is a HUGE improvement over that standard picture/model everyone sees that doesn't actually help students understand because it is just organs floating in space. This way, students can see easily how it all fits together.I wish I could also use it for some more detailed classes about contraception and infections but I'm stuck with strictly anatomy and physiology for now because of school policy. Maybe someday.I was also relieved to find that the model is not alluring at all. This is clearly scientific and not for anything else. I work to normalize human anatomy so a good professional model is helpful.
