the Pictures dont do it justice. its way more beautiful than it looks. I dont know much about guitars but i know what does and doesnt sound good. and this one sounds ridiculously beautiful. its "harder" to play than the cheap one that i have but its a different, bigger body. But all together, 5 Stars!! Beautiful, Great Sound, Still great to play and worth its money

I've had quite an adventure in buying this guitar, which ended up giving me the opportunity to see two of them. The first order was lost by USPS, and not wanting to wait another week I went to GC and picked one up locally. Unfortunately, it had a LOT of flaws in the finish, 7 total from glue on the edge of the binding of the fret board, to bumps and "dots" in the satin finish on the top and head, white dots on the fret board and a small hole near a skull inlay. Plus the color was very light, it didn't look like mahogany. Thankfully they accepted the return, and Amazon was amazing in offering next day shipping replacing the original lost order. When the box arrived somewhat damaged and obviously previously opened I was a bit nervous. The packaging was fine, it's snugly boxed up, but the light foam wrap around the guitar was torn open at the body although it had not been unwrapped, so probably a shipping security check. I looked it over very carefully - it's not perfect as far as craftsman ship goes. The headstock finish is uneven; rough on one side, smooth on the other. And there's again a "dot" in the finish. There's glue around the bridge, looks like a sloppy application. And a slight mar in the finish on the side near the front strap beg. The color of the body is right, and it plays so sweet, I love a deep warm sound. I've played about a year on a well setup, lightly strung Yamaha F335 that sounds pretty good, this Fender is much better. On paper, it's worth much more $. A solid mahogany top with scalloped bracing, Fishman onboard pre-amp; tuning is nice, and it comes with a battery. It's sound is nice and warm, clean with good action and no fret buzz (when I play it right!). Add in unique inlays and vintage feel, it seems to be a great bargain. Based on my two experiences, the overall craftsmanship of the build is where the low price comes from. It's not a high dollar Martin, Taylor, etc though, so for the money I find it's a great deal and ultimately acceptable. If they paid for the labor to build each of them perfect it would probably cost the $500 it's worth, or more. The first one was unacceptable, but this one has only minor flaws. I plan on playing it for a long time, they will become part of it's patina and character.Everyone will have their own a opinions on signature series in general, and the inlays with "signed" nut cover in particular, but that seems inconsequential to a review as it's completely personal. I looked into it because I love Op Ivy and Rancid, and I like the skulls, but not so much the cats. I wanted a smaller solid top acoustic electric that was unique, that's exactly what it is. I know they sell a lot of these guitars, not unique by definition, but it's the only model like it. Boring dot or bar inlays are not unique. So it's cool to me and that's all that matters.Keeping slight flaws in relation to cost in mind, I highly recommend it. Love it.

Beautiful guitar, but within a day I had to keep replacing the strings. I sent it to the service center where they told me the top was sunken in due to dry climate. They consider this maintenance and it is not covered under Fender's warranty, even though I received it in that condition.I looked online and found a few Hellcats with this issue. It's because I received a guitar with a warped neck. It is important to return/exchange the guitar immediately because it may be an ongoing problem, even with a humidifier in the room. It's not expensive to fix, but some guitars continue with the problem regardless of the humidity. The Fender rep told me today that all wood is different, so it "isn't our fault that the guitar you received needed to be humidified more than others and there is nothing we will do about it." I didn't have a problem with humidifying it. The problem is that I received a defective product.I've had it for 8 months and I've spent $150 so far with "maintenance".Fender is known for quality electric guitars, not acoustic. For those of you that that do not like fret buzz, do not buy this product. You may receive the type I did.

Simply AMAZING! Beyond great right out of the box! Can't beat this quality for this price! Would buy 5 more if I had to. This is an amazing guitar, plugged in or not. The feel is great and the action is perfect. I have a 1935 Slingerland May-bell F hole style Acoustic and 2 Yamahas and this fits right in my acoustic family. It's my only acoustic that has a pick up in it and it does the job! I love the custom hellcat inlays on the fret markers and the skulls on the 12th. fret. I use to make guitars for Ernie Ball music man so I've seen a lot of different guitars come through our shop/factory and I've played kn many many different guitars and I worked in the "set up" department and I did fret jobs on guitars that were worth thousands apps thousands of dollars. This feels amazing and sounds so good and bright. This could easily be a $400-500 guitar. For this price, you truly get what you pay for and then some! Very pleased and would give it 10 stars if I could! I love the built in guitar tuner as well. You just push a button when it's not plugged in and tune it up, switch the pick up off and you're done! Amazing!

i believe that in the price range within which this guitar resides, it truly happens to be one of the best values out there. if you are expecting to compare it to top of the line martins and larivees, you of course will not be finding your top dog in this, but if you are looking for a guitar with well-done appointments, a clear, balanced tone with a great full trusty pickup system, and killer looks, this is your guy. i have some really nice axes but was looking for a guitar i could take on the road and beat around and not have to worry about being precious about it, and when i saw the lefty version of this in the store, i was pretty blown away by the looks of it- the subtle, uniqueness of it that wasn't too crazy or wanting to be all flashy, but looked like some vintagey warm thing with its own story and look. also, the body size is small and comfortable, not some huge thing to get your arm up over, which is attractive to me. stays in tune surprisingly well with the more old-school looking tuners, is easy to play with its fast smooth neck, and is a winning buy. cheers to this one, fender.
