Product Description

'50s-spec Roasted Maple Strat Neck The Fender Roasted Maple Vintera Mod '50s Stratocaster Neck may just be the upgrade your Strat is clamoring for. Roasted until it reaches optimal dryness and beauty, this maple neck is more resistant to humidity shifts and temperature changes than non-roasted necks. The '50s-era Soft "V" profile gives this neck a handfeel that's straight out of the old school, with plenty of wood in the palm and yet clearance enough for thumb-over players. Together with its 9.5" fretboard radius and 21 medium-jumbo frets, the Fender Roasted Maple Vintera Mod '50s Stratocaster Neck has something for all eras of Fender fans. Note: Every neck and guitar is different, and a final setup, including filing the nut slots and a final fret leveling, may be required after installation on your guitar. Call your GearNuts Sales Engineer with any questions you have about upgrading or replacing the neck

From the Manufacturer

There’s no denying the allure of a roasted maple neck. Resistant to humidity shifts and featuring a gorgeous, dark look, they have more sustain and add a unique note to the instrument’s voice.

This genuine Fender Stratocaster neck is crafted at our Ensenada, Mexico manufacturing facility. Featuring a vintage style “soft V” neck profile and 9.5"-radius maple fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets, for modern playing feel. The synthetic bone nut is pre-slotted with "pilot" grooves for accurate spacing when filing the final string slots. The perfect way to give your Strat® authentic Fender feel, this replacement neck even sports our famous “spaghetti” logo on the headstock.
Because Fender genuine replacement necks have not been mounted to guitar bodies, nut slots must be cut by qualified personnel. Other installation processes may be required, such as fret work, fitting the neck to the neck pocket, and other instrument setup procedures. Your local FMIC Authorized Service Center can install genuine replacement necks; find
locations near you in the “Support” section of fender.com.

So the neck is great and lovely. I knew I took a risk on buying it “used like new”…but $230 for a $399 neck is worth the risk…and it will be with some work. Once I’m done, the damage won’t be noticeable, but some sophomore bore out the tuner slots and added poorly measured 2-pin holes for screw on tuners. Some small wood split but all will be fine…especially for $170 off.

Fret slots not filled on sides. Finish flaws under topcoat. Disappointing.

The neck profile feels identical to the soft V that came with my 50’s Vintera Strat. The only thing is I wish they didn’t lacker the fretboard so much. I had a tech sand the fretboard finish to feel like the neck and now it’s perfect!

Pros...The roasted maple looks very nice, neck feels slick, soft v profile fills hand nicely, & frets are 90% perfect.Cons...No skunk stripe on back as pictured, no truss rod adjustment on headstock as pictured, & cheap nut slightly low.
