Light weight, quality materials/hardware/workmanship, great moderate fast/forgiving action for slinging moderate sized flies to bass and small flies to panfish. It looks beautiful and is a joy to use. I have rods costing twice as much or more and this Fenwick and it performs and feels just as good or better than them. I could have saved alot of money on over priced rods had I used these Fenwick fly rods sooner! These fly rods are a hidden gem in the over crowded fly rod industry! Get one and you will be glad you did. I am very very impressed!

Great little 5wt for smaller to medium rivers. Casts bigger flies and indicators rigs easily. Lined it with a 6wt line to help it load up better, has become my favourite rod to use. Good quality materials in handle and throughout. My big dissatisfaction with the rod is the blank line up markers in the last two tip pieces don’t line up? When fully constructed the guides on the top half of the rod are off my 1/4” inch or so. Probably would of gone a 5 I just find that the rod guide misalignment to be a major oversight in quality. Overall it is a good value compared to competitors price based on rod quality and performance.

I bought the used one and with a gift card I paid very little. The rod performs great and is perfect for a beginning fly fisher or I imagine even a more experienced one. I have 3 fenwick HMG's and love them. I actually broke my 8 weight and they were kind enough to cover it under warranty which is something i did not expect them to do since I told them it was probably more my fault than theirs. Thanks fenwick and you have a customer for life.

Very pleased with rod. Cast nicely, quality seems to be very good. Only possible complaint I could have is that the grip handle is a bit small. Just because you use a 3W weight fly rod doesn’t mean you have three weight hands!

This is a great rod, I wish I would have got one for my 5 and 6 weight. I have the 3 weight and its a blast. I can cast 30-45 feet with a 12 foot leader on the money. It has a consistent and smooth action that is perfect for a slower, smoother casting stroke like mine. I am able to pay the line out beautifully and lightly. It has just enough backbone to handle bluegill, small bass and trout, but not too much to take away the fun. It compares with much higher priced rods and is an amazing deal for the money.

It's a fenwick enough said but I landed a 3lb brown trout out of the local creek with it that was a fight worth being in but in my small little creek it's just ther best little rod to get around in the tight holes were the chubs lay up under the bank but it can still hang with the longer rods in the open flats as well if you can dial in your double haul game but that's not what i got it for its my little stealth assassin for the deep canyons where the majority of the weekend Fisher people won't go and the little guys feel like a bit of a fight but it'll have the back bone to take the big bosses to the reel and fight it out for all your tipets worth and the compact tube it comes in is great for strapping to the side of your pack and bush whack your way into the lunker holes

Amazing fly rod for the money. Easily comparable to a St. Croix Avid which cost nearly 200 dollars more. Casts incredibly well and provides great feel as well. Placing those delicate drys on spring creeks are a breeze with this rod. Comes in a nice sturdy rod tube as well. Overall this is a fantastic rod that can surely perform to your expectations.
