Flat Extended Length sanding pad for sanding in extremely tight areas with the DX 93 detail sander. The secret to a great finish lies in the use of the right pad and abrasive for the application at hand. Festool sanding pads are designed as carefully as every other component for optimum performance and a long life. All of our pads are designed with dust extraction as a primary consideration, so you'll work cleaner, produce a better finish and significantly extend the life of your abrasives and pads. Festool pads feature the StickFix hook and loop design for quick and efficient abrasive changes, and enable re-use of partially used abrasives. A highly-resilient, heat-resistant MPE foam is utilized in all our pads for consistent finishing results, uniform wearing, and extended pad life. Because sanding pads will eventually fatigue and require replacement, it is advisable to keep a fresh pad at hand to avoid a break in work. Includes 1 sanding pad. Made in Germany.

This is a great product, but it is NOT COMPATIBLE with the newer RO90 sander, even though some other DX products ARE compatible with the RO90, such as the standard V93 pads (both hard 488715 and soft 488716).I discussed this point in detail with Eric at Festool (Applications) to be sure it was accurate. If you are looking for the Thin triangular extended plate for the RO90, you want Festool part number 496803, which is the entire quick-change assembly.If after a lot of use, the velcro on the extended plate becomes damaged (or if you need to cut a narrow custom shape extension), you can buy/replace just the backing plate portion with Festool part number 497483. Three screws hold this in place, and two backing plates come in a pack.

This extension for the DX 93 is indispensable when sanding shutters. It enables you to get in between the louvers - something that cannot be done with the standard foot on the DX 93.It serves to note that the vacuum functionality of the tool will not operate with this extension on since the extended foot is thin, hard plastic without the holes for drawing in the sawdust. As well, this extension tends to wear out on the tip after a few hours of use since there is a tendency for the user to bear down on the tip when sanding. This will eventually rub off the hook and loop texture of the foot, so keep a spare in the DX 93 tool box.
