My gas stove decided to just stop working one day so I, being someone with more curiosity than sense, started disassembling and looking for a burned out board on a Whirlpool gas range. The board was fine, and after doing continuity checks between the prongs on the cord and the white and black power wires going to various parts of the stove, found that the black wire was somehow dead. I removed the second top level of the range underneath the gas burner plumbing and found that the thermal limit switch on the black wire had failed open. Whirlpool no longer stocks this part, and even if they did, it would have cost me about $40 + shipping. Turns out with a small retrofit, this thermal switch fits in the old metal cup that housed the old switch, and has almost an identical size of tabs for connecting the spade connectors crimped onto the existing wiring.$1 part fixed a $2000 gas oven. I will withhold my general feelings on Whirlpool in this review, but I think you can understand my feelings on manufacturers playing the planned obsolescence game without my needing to elaborate further.

This was purchased to fix a Klarstein Espresso machine. Klarstein support was non-existent, so with some troubleshooting, this part was identified as the culprit. Note for any thermostat replacement: pay attention to the rating stamped on the bad part, whether the thermostat should be normally open or closed, and the connector direction (horizontal or vertical). You'll probably need a bit of heat sink too. Don't toss it, fix it!

PERFECT!! I used this 105C in my counter top distiller (the round one). Originally I had ordered the 90C as some of the posts said that's what would work in a counter top distiller (all but one post and he was right).Since water boils at 212 F / 100 C degrees and since the 90C = 194 F degrees, the 90 C I originally tried DID NOT GET HOT ENOUGHT TO BOIL WATER IN MY DISTILLER. I found this 105C/221F and this is a perfect replacement thermostat. I am very happy with this one and have learned how easy it is to replace these. If you have the round counter top distiller, use the 105C/221F degree thermostat. I filled the container 1/2 way and ran this cycle keeping an eye on it; it shut off promptly when the water ran out. There was just about 1/16" of water in the bottom of can and it did not burn up. I checked water with TDS meter and it measured 0.1 and tastes good and smooth. Worked great! Also, shipped very very quickly... price couldn't be beat and now I have spares for myself or friends, just in case. Very happy with this item!
