I got this so that I could take some time and thoroughly clean the current filter whenever I descale my ice maker. Now I can take as much time as I want to ensure the filter is perfectly clean because I have this replacement installed to keep the ice flowing.

I have no idea what this filter does, and the listing doesn't even suggest its purpose.A friend gave me his Opal 2.0 ice maker, and it is a wonderful machine. But the machine he gave me never had a filter, though it clearly has a place where it could be installed. So for a year, I've used it without a filter. Thus far, I've had no fish, insects, clumps of dirt or anything else show up in my ice.STILL, since it is SUPPOSED to have a filter, I ordered this one and it fits perfectly as promised. It seems to be well made and unlikely to break, and I'm glad to have it installed, (which was easy.) Whether it works or not is hard to tell, since it is apparently there to solve a problem I've not knowingly experienced.I'll assume it is doing what it is supposed to do, and unless alien life forms or assorted debris starts showing up in my ice, I will assume it is certainly doing no harm.Recommended.
