The photos really say it all. The top is my original Aubert bridge and the bottom is this… thing. Out of curiosity I tried to put it on, and could not even tune it was so big. No way you could press the strings for high notes.

We own 4 cellos, two are a 3/4 size and my son plays them. The bridge broke and the other needs a neck repair, so these were what I could get quickly enough and also have one ready for the other cello when it’s repaired. This bridge was even bigger than the one on the 4/4 cello. Cutting and shaking it down was difficult because so much had to be removed, and what’s left is very thick. It changed the tone of the instrument pretty noticeably. I plan to get a better fitting bridge from an instrument store in another city next time we can get there, these are going into the “omg it’s an emergency and we need this immediately” box of supplies. We have 6 musicians in our family/home, none of us were impressed but it got him through a mediocre school orchestra performance.

The first thing to know is that these are real hard maple, so they will hold up.The second is that while they've done the hardest part for you, cutting more or less a radius on the feet, you'll want to do the thing where you tape some paper over your instrument, tape some sandpaper over that, and rub the feet back and forth to get the perfect custom fit for your individual instrument. Also the top of the bridge, while rounded off, may need adjusting for your particular setup. It may be too tall, or you may want to file a slope for intonation, etc.I enjoyed this set, which is cheaper than ONE bridge at my local string shop, because I can use the extra bridges for experiments with making my own non-traditional instruments.
