This is a really interesting item. Style wise, it’s a dramatic shift from the standard silver knobs that we have throughout the rest of the home. It’s also got these diamond-style facets that give it an interesting feel. I’m not sure that style wise I’m in love with it, if I’m being totally honest. But overlooking the style, for the moment, I’m in love with the function. You download the app (which I actually already had for some old smart plugs) and charge the knob using a usb C wire. I get the sense that the battery life is long, but that it will be a little bit of an irritation when it ultimately needs to be charged again. I’ll end up doing so with a power bank that I can set on the ground and charge from as there are no outlets nearby. That being said, based on my using this knob multiple times a day and it still being at 98% battery - this seems to be a one or twice a year issue. After the knob is charged and installed, you connect to it via the app, and then you can set up fingerprints. I ended up setting up both of my thumbs, and then my wife set up hers too. The fingerprint recognition is probably about 85% accurate. Occasionally, it will require multiple scans to work. But most of the time, you apply your thumb, and the light glows green. About 15% of the time, it will require multiple touches, glowing silently red and refusing access. It’s usually after I wash my hands, so sometimes I just need to make sure they’re totally dry. And then it works! I suspect there might be a way to make it completely unlocked all the time unless I lock it, but I haven’t confirmed that. By default (and how mine is set up), you unlock it and it works for about 10 seconds. After that, it silently re-locks, so that basically it’s useful for a room that you don’t access a ton and don’t want to be accessible most of the time. My solution for the rare instances where I plan on going in and out a bunch of times in a row is just to leave the door cracked. When it’s closed, essentially, the room is secured, pending the correct thumbprint. It’s been really useful at keeping the kids out of my office. It takes a little getting used to, especially since grabbing a doorknob is a pretty automatic behavior, so remembering to scan your fingerprint first takes a little practice, but after about a week I got totally used to the new process. Again, probably not good for rooms where you need to get in quickly or in an emergency (thinking bedrooms), but for rooms that you don’t need to access all the time and want to keep secure (offices, closets), it’s a great way to add a little security. You can also unlock it with the app, and hide a key that works for when it eventually does run out of battery.

I purchased this smart fingerprint door lock for my home office and I am very pleased with it and very impressed with design and quality of it. I also like the features and the safety of it as well and the three ways I can access my lock. The App is very easy to use and install and it really convenient and reliable and safe.
