I choose the orange color because of its visibility in the dark. It's made of durable polyester and it's the perfect length for my second-story home. It really does fold quickly and can be easily stored. I inspected the quality of the ladder because falling from the second floor is dangerous, and it passed my test. Mainly I inspected the stitching and the quality of the 2 hooks. Nevertheless, it required some forethought about where to position the escape ladder and how to secure it for emergency use because the 2 hooks are all that is in the kit, and that might not be ideal for your location to climb down. Therefore, I recommend having an attachment to use if necessary to secure the ladder. I think it is good value for the money and it's functional for other types of emergencies, and it is lightweight.

I've been wanting to do this review for a while now, but I didn't have a place to actually test it! There is an easy solution like one reviewer pointed out, but I'm currently renting so I can't drill into the walls. I'll just have to wait until I move to my new house! I think it would be good to install it near the bedroom window. In lieu of that, I tried it against the retaining wall to the basement. It was easy to set up. I was worried about it's sturdiness, but it feels like it will hold up at least a few times before needing to be replaced. It held my weight without a problem. (185 lbs)I think then it would be important to practice climbing up and down this ladder, because it's not a motion that you typically have to do on a day-to-day basis. Hopefully, you'll never have to use this rope ladder, but it does make me feel better having it just in case.

Great ladder for emergencies. I always worry about a fire downstairs that would prevent those upstairs from evacuating. This is an awesome product for anyone to have. Seems built well enough to sustain use and hope to never need to actually use it!

So far it seems good. I haven't had the pleasure of escaping a burning building with this yet, but it is well made and should work better than just jumping out a window. It's pretty heavy, which I think is a plus, and long enough to work for most people. Overall a nice thing to have upstairs just in case. Would recommend this if you are wanting one.

I'm planning to use this as a fire escape ladder and it will definitely serve that purpose. The last escape ladder I had was one-time use only, but this one can be used over and over and is even indicated for treehouses. I can see why. It's a sturdy build. The steps have inch-thick wood dowels reinforced with the sturdy polyester canvas material. The stitching and the material appear to be strong and high quality. If I ever have to use this ladder to escape, I will feel safe doing so.

If you want a ladder strictly for emergency escapes, then this ladder will work. When I attach it to the railing on my 3rd floor balcony, it is long enough to reach the stairs to my second floor with a little extra length to spare. I climbed up on the bottom rungs and the ladder held my bodyweight (200 pounds). If you want a ladder you intend to use multiple times, then this is probably not a good choice. The construction is strong, but it does not look rugged enough to take much wear and tear. For example, the fabric covers are stapled to the rungs as you can see in one of my pictures. I assume that is so the cover doesn't spin around the rung and cause someone to slip. I imagine if you used this ladder more than a few times the staples will pull out or the fabric will tear.

This is a very nicely constructed emergency ladder than is 16.5' long. It's made of thick polyester webbing, and claims it can support up to 3300 pounds. It can be rolled up and easily stowed away for an emergency. One end has sewn in loops for hanging, and it includes two clips to help attach it. It does NOT include any sort of window sill hooks. It does not state that it does, and I expected this, but you will need a way to attach the hooks onto something if used as an emergency ladder. In the right scenario a couple of heavy duty lag bolts or screw hooks could be screwed into studs below the window to hook over. BUT that should only be done by someone who understands construction and the risks of improper installation.

A few years ago, I saw a device on line. that consisted of a box with door access containing a rope ladder designed to be built into the wall with the rope ladder attached and secured directly to the wall studs. The device was designed to provide easy, emergency escape from any room, but especially a bedroom on a second floor. The cost was quite expensive, so the DIYer in me new I could. create something similar myself. When I saw this ladder, I knew it was time to get started on that project. This ladder is an integral part to safety be able to exit a bedroom window when you have no other means of escape, and you don't necessarily need to build anything elaborate to contain it. In most second story windows in single family homes you won't have a balcony railing. to attach the two included carabiners to, but your wall studs. will suffice. You'll need a couple of eye bolts, though, substantial in strength and deep enough to screw into the wall studs. Just ask for help at the hardware or. big box store and tell them what you need them for and they can give you exactly what you need. Always be safe, and always have an emergency plan for every member of the household. This is a great strong rope ladder, well made, reinforced in all the right places for added strength. Measure the distance of what length you will need from inside where the ladder will be attached to up and over the window ending at the drop at ground leve.
