Contains all the mess but I worry about heat transfer through it with larger coals. I cut a piece of plywood to help.

As with most pomoly products, I was very impressed with the way this held up and kept ashes or anything from burning into the ground. It did exactly what it was supposed to do very happy with my purchase would buy it again if I needed another one highly recommend it

The fiberglass mat is made well. It definitely gives me peace of mind about not setting anything on fire under the hot tent stove. Also any hot embers falling out keeps from igniting the ground.I can see using this for possible leave no trace purposes if I can place a layer of thin metal or such underneath my regular twig style stoves.

Tiny ember fell off from my wood stove left this mark. Seems like it doesn't withstand heat and flames.

I wasn't sure whether this would transfer heat easily, so I took and extra measure and put a thin towel down first on the plastic tablecloth, then this on top of that. Finally I added my Korean Ratchet electric grill on top. I know from experience of my last BBQ that the grill gets seriously hot. The good news is it's not summer anymore, so I don't have to vent the heat. The grill added to the 90 degree heat in my glassed in back porch area, and so we guzzled cold drinks all day. The Grill acts like a good space heater, and it the proper shape and length to fit on this heat resistant mat. I'd considering putting the fire pit round shield over the table, but the look was not good, and I may want to use it for my Lodge charcoal grill on a side table.I have plenty of lighting overhead on the porch, but this makes a cool effect for lower lighting conditions if watching fireworks, or just eating watermelon and singing Karaoke a favorite past time. It's been years since I'd been able to use my porch, but this year after selling some older vehicles, I stored some stuff in the garage, and opened this up to be a good living space. This mat blends right in with the theme of out of doors cooking. Inexpensive and suitable for these small grills and maybe even induction cooktops for put of doors hotpot. Just in time for a BBQ I have coming up in about a week. I test fired a few dogs on it this evening, and it seemed to hold up well, by tablecloth didn't melt at least. Recommended.
