I have used for a short time so cannot comment as to durability. Cutting and fitting using a hand saw and sandpaper were a joy. This could change my attitude about fire brick.

I bought these firebricks to help insulate the firebox on my offset smoker. It comes as a pack of six. The box was well packed and the bricks barely weigh anything. The description states they are vermiculite and temperature resistant to 2700F, which should work out great for what I will be using them for. I'm going to use them for a while before I decide if I will add some more to the bottom of my smoker. They seemed to help keep temperatures more consistent and keep the coal bed hot.

Firebricks,Fire Bricks for Wood Stove,High Temperature Resistant Vermiculite Bricks(2700F),Cuttable and Drillable,Ideal for Wood Stoves and Fireplaces,Size 9" x 4-1/2" x 1-1/4", 6 PackFirst impressions: Nice set of 6 bricks, ready to use. The bricks are not heavy, they are light for their size. The bricks have a bubbled appearance, the air bubbles reach the surface.Installation/setup: Use to line your kiln, forge, fireplace, or pizza oven.Final thoughts: I got these to line the bottom of my raku kiln, using them as a sort of a kiln shelf. The bricks are about the same size as each other and will work well, bridging a gap between fire bricks where I introduce the fire into the kiln. I place the artworks on these bricks and heat the kiln until the artworks glow then remove the lid and the art to introduce volatiles to enhance the surface and add special effects. This is the most incredible way to do ceramics and I love it. These bricks work just as I wanted, I like these and I’m glad I got them.⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

These are NOT standard clay "firebricks." I admit the mistake is mine because I read the words fire bricks, looked at the pictures, saw key words like wood stove, fireplace, etc. and completely filtered out "vermiculite." If you are aware of what a fire brick is and see these--look closely as they are not what you might think.Fortunately for me, I intend to put these in the bottom of a Weber grill and expect that they will help insulate what is otherwise a fairly cheap grill and help retain heat in the fire chamber, providing more of it upward to the cooking surface. If these are not so durable and crack, as some reviewers claim, I think they'll still work for my purpose. So I'm not truly disappointed. But, I would NEVER put these in a stove or fireplace, however!! Failure there could be a disaster. From the reading I've done since I received them, they can be expected to serve well as a thermal insulating material near fire. They just cannot withstand any physical abuse at all, such as what might happen where wood is burned, fires are poked and stoked, and ashes are cleaned. Or perhaps in Weber grills. To be fair, vermiculite firebricks are used in stoves and fireplaces, but they are considered something like an expendable item as they just don't last.So they are no doubt a decent product, just not what the product description seems to market them for, which is why some users are mad that they cracked so easily and soon--it's a little scary that I can press my thumbnail against this brick and with very little pressure scratch and indent it. This is why I give them a middling three stars. But, if you know what these are and want exactly that, consider it a 4 or 5 star product.

I was very disappointed with the quality of this fire brick. Although it is claimed to be resistant to high temperatures, it was very fragile when installed and would break at the slightest touch. We used it in our wood stove, but within a few uses, cracks appeared on the surface. It is difficult to understand why it could break so easily. Although the size and fit were appropriate, the quality was disappointing and would not be recommended.

This refractory brick works well when used in wooden stoves, and the received package is not damaged. It is also durable when used in fireplaces and wood stoves, and remains intact after a week of use. I was worried that it might have been damaged due to being used in an environment with too high a temperature. In short, the effect is very good and I am very satisfied.

I believe that, in most applications, these bricks would be a good and durable choice for fire resistance. A suitable application would definitely include lining a fireplace or a fire-cooking oven. They have a weight that is neither too heavy nor too light, and the material is reminiscent of particle board. In my case, I subjected these bricks to a more rigorous test of their integrity. I had to cut the bricks to fit my specific application; however, for their intended use, the overall size would likely be sufficient. I used these bricks inside my propane smelter, which is designed to reach temperatures well over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. For a prolonged period of time, I subjected the brick to likely its maximum fire resistance rating. While it did hold up, it did suffer from some deformation and became soft, it seemed. The crucible I was using eventually began to sink into the brick after it had sustained long periods of high-temperature exposure. I had been skeptical almost of the bricks' fortitude as the price for these was really unbeatable. Usually, if it's too good to be true... in this case, it was not. It was definitely true, and if I had not pushed these bricks to their limit, I'm certain you would never have experienced any issues in regard to their quality and fire resistance. It passed my smelting application with flying colors.
