I left it three stars, buts that's mostly just for the appearance and ease of packing. Bought this rod for bike packing and hiking trips. I was very excited to use it. It took a few weeks of practice to get used to how it throws line. You will not be able to cast even a quarter of the distance compared to a traditional fly rod. There is a lot of friction created inside the tubes making double haul and single haul casting nearly impossible. The line wrap for storage leave kinks in the line which cause even more friction and also makes hook sets harder do to the extra slack created.Don't get me wrong it's a gorgeous rod, but it's a novelty rod. If you're looking for a good packing rod that actually throws line id recommend the ten dollar eagle claw over this. Even if the eagle claw breaks, you can buy over twenty of them for the price of one of these. If you like short casting, kinks in your line or cane pole style fishing then maybe this rod is for you.

One of the center sections broke during first use! It is not flexible like a normal fly rod. JUNK in my opinion. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!! Reyr should be ashamed of themselves!!!

With the line going through the rod itself, it creates extra drag making it a bit more challenging to cast longer distances. But I purchased with the intent of packing on my motorcycle for a trip. For that it worked out great!

I love this travel rig. I can be fishing within 30 seconds at a moments notice. I take it on any road-trip in case there’s a fishing opportunity- it’s so small and compact which makes it easy.

This rod has made fly fishing a breeze. I have used this several times backpacking and have zero complaints. It is lightweight, fast, and simple. Everything I am looking for in a backpacking fly rod. 10/10 would recommend and will continue to recommend. I am fishing and catching fish by the time my friends are done setting up their rods. Get one, you won't regret it.

The REYR collapsable fly rod is a fantastic setup for backpacking and keeping in the car. It's super compact & light, and is now my go-to rod. I love that I can set up and have a fly in the water fast and easy; so easy in fact that I rarely get out my sectional rod anymore.I've used it a dozen times, and it seems to be solid construction. Also, REYR has terrific customer service and quickly turned around what I needed with overnight delivery so I was prepared for a backpacking trip.I recommend this product.

This rod has been put through the paces over the last month with no hiccups or headaches. The telescoping rod with the reel built in give me that classic rod feel, and afterward this thing collapses down and stows away. Very helpful for deeper excursions in the field. The attention to detail on the product as a whole is phenomenal, the included line is strong and thick, all parts fitting together nicely, with some anodized red aluminum parts and a solid cork handle. Well thought out. My kit shipped with some classic flies which have been nabbing bites left and right. Recently I've kept this in my car - it takes up very little space and if I find a zone, the time to deploy this thing is just a couple of minutes.
