Not bad for the price, but my "original" wet noodle had a stronger magnet that was better able to find and grab onto the chain. I still had my original but vastly more expensive wet noodle, but had lost the steel chain, so the purchase was worth it for me, if only to replace the steel chain (as most chains sold in hardware stores are not steel and won't stick to the magnet). It seems the magnet on this model only grabs the chain if it encounters the end of the magnet, but the cylindrical sides of the magnet do very little, which limits its effectiveness at actually finding and grabbing the chain.

The magnet is junk. Do yourself a favor and buy from a reputable company like labor saving devices. I've been doing this for a long time. I knew better, but needed something quickly.

Great tool for fishing a wall. Works better than expected. Just have to practice the technique a little before you master using it.

The magnet works but would be better if it were stronger, this way the chain wouldn’t fall off so easily without any attached weight. Overall this is a great product at an appropriate price

If you find yourself frequently fishing/snaking any type of cabling/wiring this tool would be worth the money if you work for someone and paid out of pocket for it. Can't remember how many times this simple gadget saw me finish a difficult run that had me unable to get around a framing transition or other obstacle above a sheetrock ceiling. I often will use the "wet noodle" in conjunction with another retriever that is more rigid to get through 1-2 stud bays when adding a receptacle a few feet down a wall. I'm unaware of anything else allowing one to do that without having to spend significantly more time doing something like trying to catch a snake with another snake and while I mention snakes this is a godsend for grabbing a snake that's 95% to where it needs to be.Lastly when trying to get down a wall you can drop the chain and simply grab with magnet. Almost too easy. Don't want homeowners finding out about this!!!
