I had a total ankle replacement and used this Foam Roller Half Round for home physical therapy. It provided me the ability to exercise the ankle joint with movement from the left and right so as to stretch the tendons and strengthen the ankle ligaments and muscle tissue.

If you have back pain, consider getting this one or the full round, and spend 10 minutes a day on it.But nothing defeats back pain better than losing weight.

Small and lightweight, but firm. I use this for heel rises (also gives a good stretch to the calf) and balance training. It's simple, but effective.
