When compared to the boxed sheets, this seems on the pricey side, but the value comes in the extra number of sheets and the add-ons that are included. I have used these for earrings and keychains. The papers are shiny on one side and matte on the others. I tried colored pencils, and they seemed to work the best. The included paint markers were OK as well. Nothing was as sharp or crisp as I would have liked, but that is OK since when it shrinks it seems darker and any light spots are less obvious.I found using them in the oven and then pressing them flat was the easiest way for me to shrink them.

My son, 4, and his friends, 4 and 7, had a blast with this shrinky dink keychain set. It's very easy and straightforward, you use the acrylic paint markers to draw on the rough side of the paper, and then pop them in the oven at 350° to shrink them. I will say there are no instructions, you sort of have to know what you're doing with shrinky drinks in the first place, but if you're reading this then now you know what to do. The oven temperature is 350. It doesn't matter if you go a little below or a little above, it will just change how fast or slow the shrinky dinks go. I found that 350 is a nice stable temperature. Let them cool before popping them free from the pan (doesn't take long, a minute or two)Everything you need is included, I found all the little extras like the tweezers and whole puncher really nice. It's not necessary, but it definitely helped. Everyone got their own keychain, and we all had a blast doing it. The colors were vibrant, the shrinking dink Was quality and in line with other brands of shrinky dink. You do not need to add parchment paper or anything underneath the shrinking dink on the pan.We had three kids and three adults making shrinky dinks. We all made four or five keychains each, and there's still a ton of supplies left over. The value for the money is astronomical, these are really nice and you get so much! I was really surprised at how much was included. This was super fun and kept the kids busy for several hours. Worth every penny! In fact, just writing this review I've decided maybe I'm gonna bring them out again today for me and my son to make more lol So fun!

This turned out to be a huge winner for the grandkids (ages 8 - 20) but not without some initial fails. This kit comes with everything you need to make some awesome keychains EXCEPT INSTRUCTIONS. Turns out, Google really is your friend! Even so, it took some trial and error before we conquered this craft. Here's what we learned:1. Use 1/4 sheet for best sizing.2. Draw on the frosted (back) side of the sheets, but make sure to mirror image words and numbers as the pictures will be reversed when viewed on the clear (front) side.3. Cut out a shape (circle, square, oval...) around the drawing. Do not cut the exact shape of the drawing or you will accidentally break off pieces or get ridiculous curling which will be impossible to flatten out.4. Use the hole punch to punch a hole in your shape.5. Bake at 325° for 1-2 minutes on smooth parchment lined cookie sheet. View with oven light on. Your piece will curl and then flatten out, remove and quickly flatten with potholder the rest of the way. (Don't use a heat gun to shrink.)Follow these instructions and you should be very happy with the results. There are plenty of sheets, key rings, tassels, swivel hooks, jump rings and chains included in this set, along with scissors, hole punch, tweezers and markers.Bottom line, this is really fun craft once you figure out what you're doing.5 Stars.

I LOVE playing around with shrink art and picked this set up, after many years, to try out. I remember this being a popular project back in the 80s and in the 2000s, when my kids were growing up, we had a lot of fun making these.I did a quick design to see how well the plastic worked. The set comes well packaged and has plenty of items to work with. I decided to use all items included except the tassels and tweezers. This is almost a full package set up except you will need some pliers to close the jump rings on the key chains. The scissors and hole punch worked fine on the shrink plastic with out issue, though I did notice that the plastic is more prone to split if your are not careful when cutting. The hole punch handles are a little sharp on the inside, but if used properly should not pose a risk. You have to use the hole punch on the plastic before shrinking. Tassels are decent but the silver caps are plastic so I'm unsure how well they will hold up to use. Key chains are very thin wire, but work. I like the included alligator clips. Nice set of markers, though the tips are not terribly thin so small lines are a bit difficult. I used a fine tipped sharpie and filled it in with the markers. The markers dried pretty quickly so I had no issue with smudging however the frosted side (which you are suppose to draw on) is rather fibrous and my sharpie bled some, but the paint markers worked fine. Lots of plastic sheets, 20 total. So the biggest issue with this set is complete lack of directions. There are NONE included! Luckily the listing has the simple and basic directions:Drawn on frosted side.Place on a cookie sheet or parchment paper.Heat in a 325* oven for 1-2 minutes. While the plastic is still hot flatten with a tool or heavy object and let cool. You can use a heat gun instead.I had no issues for the most part heating the plastic. My piece didn't curl, though the design did seem very slightly warped. I didn't notice until after it cooled that the shiny back was pot marked from the cooking sheet which sadly is pretty obvious. I used an old pan so make sure that yours is smooth. It also yellowed as I think the pan still had remnants of cooking spray. I suggest using the paper rather than the pan alone. Like advertised, it shrunk to about 1/5th the size of my drawing and I was pleased that my details were preserved really well. End results are about .10th of an inch thick. Design does not scratch of easily so is pretty hardy though you may want to hit it up with some clear acrylic spray just in case to protect it.Overall, this is just like I remember as a kid and with my kids. After showing to my son's fiance she plans to sit down tomorrow and make some herself. This is a great project for kids and because of the side would be awesome for use at a birthday party, summer camp or just extended family fun. At the present price of $19.99 for basically this entire ready to roll activity set, yes worth it!
