If you have a 1999-2004 "New Edge" Mustang and are looking for something to make your "pony" sound more like a Mustang should, this system is worthy of consideration. On the other hand, if you are looking for "wake the neighbors loud," look elsewhere. It is way more "mild mannered" than I expected from a system that uses this style of Flowmaster muffler.I had this system installed this system on my 2002 with 103,000 miles on it.My first problem was finding someone willing to install it. That was a problem that I didn't anticipate when ordering the system. On the day it was delivered, I took the system to a shop in my home town which had installed a similar Dynomax system on the 1999 Mustang I owned immediately prior to my current one. The shop said "Oh, we don't install aftermarket cat-backs, anymore" citing "too many problems with them" as the reason. The two other businesses in my home town who used to install these things said the same thing.I found a shop in the big city, 60 miles away, that was willing to do the work.I had the system installed on June 30 and after getting it installed, went on to embark on a 1,500 mile (one-way) road trip later that same day.I can hear the system when running a fairly open throttle up freeway on-ramps, but running in overdrive at the peak torque rpm of the engine, I can't hear it all. At idle or on a hot-start, I can't really hear it, either. I was a bit disappointed at first as "not being able to hear Flowmasters" isn't what I was expecting, having run these same mufflers on the LX 5.0 I bought new back in '92.Out on the Interstate, not being able to hear the system with with windows up and the A/C running with the fan on lowest setting was something that kind of grew on me. It still strikes me as odd that this system is quieter at cruise than the original stock single outlet system it replaced. I did appreciate the quiet nature of the system in driving 1,500 miles non-stop except for fuel, though. The only time I heard the system "wake up and make noise" was in accelerating from a dead stop at toll booths, running up on-ramps after stopping for fuel, or when passing slower-moving traffic. The "Jekyl and Hyde" aspect of this system is something that isn't without merit. When you don't have to hear it and won't at a steady overdrive cruise at 2,450 to 2,500 rpm. Whip the 3.8 split-port up to 3,000 rpm or beyond to the red-line, though, and it is "transformational." You know you've got your foot in it.If Amazon (or anyone else) still sold the Dynomax system, I have to be honest and say that's the one I would have went with on my 2002 that I'm driving currently. The Dynomax system on my '99 wasn't ever "silent". You could hear it faintly burbling quasi-V8 like in the background while cruising at highway speed in overdrive. It sounded more V8-like on cold and hot starts, too, as well as when running through the gears at something closer to wide-open throttle. This Flowmaster system is something more like what the car perhaps should have came with stock. In normal driving, you don't really know it is there. Put your foot in it, though, and you do and so does every one else around. As with the Dynomax system I had on my previous '99, this system does seem to yield more peak horsepower. I don't know exactly how much, though. The Kenny Brown "3.8 Special" used this exhaust system and the same mod to the air intake silencer I did on my car and they were advertised to put out 212 hp at the crank, up from 193 stock. Out in California, I ran my car on a friend's Dynojet and it averaged 178 hp to the rear wheels for three pulls with this exhaust system on it. I have no idea what this one did stock but my '99 did 167 hp stock and 176 with a Dynomax system and the same air intake mod on a local dyno.I saw a modest bump in fuel economy, too. Running mostly at peak torque rpm in overdrive on the Interstate, I averaged 27 mpg on the return. That's a 1.5 mpg improvement over what the thing was doing previously. The only issue I have encountered is that rubber isolating block of the driver's side tailpipe hanger wants to work itself out of the mounting. I had to have a shop (my aforementioned friend with the dyno) fix it the day I embarked on the 1,500 mile return trip home. It appears to be coming undone again today. This system seems like it would be an easy home install. If I had the facilities at home to do the work, and if I were not disabled, I would have tackled it on my own.In the end, if you're looking for a system that looks and sounds like something your 3.8 split-port "New Edge" Mustang should have come with as factory parts, this system might indeed make you happy. However, if your objective is to make your "sixer" sound as close to a V8 as it possibly can, I think the competing Dynomax system that Amazon used to sell is a better option, albeit a louder one.

Exactly what I was looking for, an aggressive sounding exhaust. No rattle or whine just a deep, smooth, aggressive sounding exhaust. Perfect!

Did not bolt on good at all, fought this installation for 2 days, now taking it to muffler shop so they can make it correct, hopefully It doesn't cost me too much from the purchase of $517 I already paid. I can't give this a rating since I have nothing good to say about the purchase.

Just installed this exhaust on my 2000 V6 Mustang yesterday and I have to say it was well worth the money. It has a nice deep tone to it and it's not too loud to disturb the neighbors. The drone inside the car is awesome, not obnoxious but loud enough to hear. The exhaust really comes alive when your out on the road. When cruising you barely hear it and then when you hit the gas you get this nice aggressive purr. I've already had a few heads turn my way. I also noticed a slight difference in power but nothing to go bragging about. Oh and the chrome tips really add a nice look to the back-end. If you are going to install it yourself, make sure to have a friend with you. It is not hard to install at all, just takes patience and some elbow grease. You will probably feel much better installing it yourself anyway. There's no better feeling than knowing your hard work paid off. One more thing, the kit only comes with 2 rubber mounts for one side. So I would recommend going out and getting 2 new ones for the other-side.If your looking for a deep, aggressive sound for your V6 Mustang, I would go with this exhaust. I hear nothing but good things about Flowmaster and it's all true. If you want a little preview you can look up "Flowmaster 17275" on Youtube where there should be a video that someone posted with this exact exhaust. Trust me, it sounds WAY better in person than in the video. Hope this helped.
