The Fluke milliamp process Digital clamp-meter is a manual-ranging meter for measuring DC milliampere (MA) and DC Voltage output signals of 24V loop circuits. It has a clamp that measures DC to 100MA. The clamp has two jaws that can close around an electrical conductor up to 4.5mm (0.177 inches) in diameter to measure current without touching or Interrupting the circuit, and has a 1 M extension cable so it can detach from the meter Body for hard-to-reach applications. A set of Test leads is included for measuring DC to 24MA and DC Voltage to 30V. The meter can source and simulate DC signals up to 20MA, can source DC Voltage signals up to 10V, and is accurate to 0.2 percent with a resolution of 0.01MA. It has an LCD that shows both milliamp readings and percent of 4 to 20MA span, and a backlight for visibility in low light that turns off automatically after two minutes. An LED at the top of the meter Body can be illuminated to aid visibility of wires in Dark enclosures. The meter features a built-in 24V loop power supply for powering a transmitter and measuring its milliampere output signal, and a scaled milliampere output for connecting to a logging device (sold separately) to record measurements. To aid documentation of readings and capture readings in tight spaces, the data hold function keeps the most recent reading on the display after disconnecting from the circuit. The unit operates on four 1.5V AA batteries, and turns off automatically after 15 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life. It has a low-battery indicator that signals when the battery needs to be replaced. The meter is manual-ranging, so the user selects the operating range for the property being measured. It meets IEC (international electro technical commission) Safety standards 61010-1 and 61010-2-032, has CE (European Conformity) marking, and complies with CSA (Canadian standards Association), and Australia N10140. The unit comes with a Soft carrying case.

It is nice not having to break the circuit when troubleshooting 4-20 ma circuits.

The meter itself seems fine and despite a worried call to fluke when I received it, it appears to be genuine. It arrived with english documentation in water damaged and sun faded chinese packaging.The shipping process was sketchy, and it was handed off to a courier I have never heard of before on reaching canada, before being mailed to me in an unpadded plastic bag style envelope with no padding whatsoever.

I was a controls engineer for 3 and a half years before my new job... a controls engineer. After a year, I finally bought what my last job provided for me. It's not that my new job wasn't willing to buy this item; I simply wanted to own it myself. $1300 (at the time of my purchase) wasn't chump change for me. The value of this item is simply far reaching and invaluable to have with me for years if the worst happens with my current employer. For loop powered devices and troubleshooting ANYTHING, this isn't A tool: it's the only tool. Having worked in pharmaceutical environments where disconnecting a device can literally cost millions of dollars: there aren't a lot of choices for checking signals in loop powered devices without disconnecting them. This is one of the most perfect tools for a specific application I've ever seen in my life.Downside to this purchase: the Chinese model showed up. The screen and even the manual are in English, but everything else is in Chinese. Is there any issues with China getting a second stream item? Have I gotten one of those items? The meter looks and acts like the normal one, but I'll stick it out. $1300... Yikes

Meter seems to work well but clamp feels cheap. Be gentle or it won't last long. Misleading description! Amazon CS agreed it is, but they have not fixed item description or made things right by me. If the TLK 220 set is NOT INCLUDED then DONT put it in the "about this item" area! ! !I have 100's of amazon orders personally, $1000s spent, and have only called them 3 times with a CS issue. Buyer beware!

This unit performs outstanding! Recently, I was on a job where I had to use all of the functions. Measure without breaking the circuit, source, simulate all from one meter. With the clamp-on milli-amp measuring feature with an extention cord that allows you to remove the clamp jaws, there is no need to take down a system while you hook up a loop calibrator. It does it all such as simulating a feedback device, sourcing a milli-amp signal, and in-line measuring as well. Well worth the money, but...But! My batteries in the unit were dead on arrival! I measured the batteries and all four AA batteries measured only 0.8VDC! For over $1,000.00 dollars, you figure Fluke could verify that the batteries in the unit were good! It delayed the job while I had to run out and buy some batteries. I expect more from Fluke!Otherwise, anybody that works with process controls would have a great troubleshooting advantage by having one of these.

Clamp on milliamp meter works magically well. Ability to measure and source signals makes troubleshooting much quicker and easier for controls work.
