One of the things I really like about this kit is it teaches skills like macrame on a tiny scale. These are skills that transfer to so many things

Since I was a child, I’ve made countless friendship bracelets and experimented with beading, braiding, kumihimo, shamballa, macrame, and more. I’d been curious about these board-based kits so decided to have a go on this one. The board is in the form of a plastic box, Inside are stored 15 lengths of cord, 20 coloured pins, 15 button closures, 15 elastic cords, and a sheet of stickers to decorate the button closures. There are instructions, such as they are, for 10 different styles of bracelets, but no advice how to get started or indeed interpret these instructions which are intimidatingly detailed and tiny enough to be useless to anyone over 30 (I realise we are not the target market, but larger print makes things easier for everyone!). I managed to follow the first, most basic design, and I think the second was similar enough I could probably have worked it out, but beyond that, I was lost. At £13.99 at time of review, this probably works fine if you rely on other tutorials or know what you are doing, but personally I’d shop around for something a little more user-friendly.

I got this for a friend who had this to say:Great assortment of coloured ‘ropes’ and elastics to make an array of bracelets, and I like the inclusion of larger clasps so that little ones can wear the finished pieces. Handy that the bracelet-making frame doubles as easy storage for all the materials. Step by step instructions provide plenty of pictures to get you started.
