I really enjoy this radio and have owned it for over one year. It's easy to carry around the house and lets me listen to the local station I like best. The outer material is firm, but soft so a nice feel when it's handled. I already had a portable Crane radio that doesn't sound any better and was a hard, heavy, clumsy mess to carry around. The blue and white color seems to blend in with everything in the house while being cheerful. One reviewer had described this radio as his little gem. I had laughed when I read that and thought maybe a stretch? Well my white and blue Sangean is now my little gem. Along with the radio I purchased Panasonic BQ-CC55KSBHA Advanced eneloop pro Rechargeable Battery 4 Hour Quick Charger with 4 LED Charge Indicator Lights, Black. The batteries work very well in this radio.

I love the size!!! So compact and simply easy to use. I was able to set my fav stations without any issues. The blue and white combo is so soothing and looks very elegant. I'm going to use in my bedroom to listen to music from any radio station and fall into deep sleep. Hard to find digital setting radio these days. Most of them are fine tuning. I still love a good old portable radio to keep me company. These days, I do agree music comes from different devices but getting music out of a real radio is amazing. Thank you Amazon for still having stock of these type of items preferred by a specific group of people. Hahaha.

This radio has supper reception. It picks up stations I never knew existed because all my other radios didn’t pick them up. They jumped out nice and clear when I ran the scan function through both AM and FM stations. Very easy to program the station buttons. The speakers provide quality sound and plenty of volume range. This is the second Sangean brand radio we’ve bought and are very pleased with. I wish they made an under-cabinet model.

Recap: it's expensive, eats batteries so badly you need the AC adapter, doesn't really sound that great (especially on batteries), but it has a typically good Sangean tuner. The cute factor applies though, and only for the blue and white version.I kept this radio because it does really well picking up AM DX at night with its low noise floor. It also does well picking up low power local stations during the day. It's small enough for portable use but watching the battery meter go down quickly is disconcerting.When you plug in the AC adapter, you get a sudden increase in fidelity similar to a loudness button. The Sangean Lunchbox does the same thing when you plug it in. I think Sangean repurposed the same circuit as the Lunchbox and several other models that all have 5 Preset buttons.Sangean fans might like this one but I bet Amazon gets a lot of them returned just for the battery issue.

I thought since it showed 2 speakers it would have good stereo sound. I am not sure if it is stereo, but the sound is very fuzzy. It is hard to understand radio announcers or the words to songs.Unfortunately for me, I kept trying to convince myself it was worth keeping. So I went beyond the return date. Oh well.The sound quality is so poor I am not even going to give it to anyone as a gift or try to sell it to anyone.

A nice looking radio. The FM reception is excellent. It automatically selects FM stations with precise tuning, example FM101.7 or .4 or whatever you desire.However, with AM stations the tuner is in increments of 10 only, no single digit adjustment. Example, if you want AM873, it cannot precisely tune in it. It will select 870 or 880. There is no way you can select 873. Because of that design fault, the signal is poor; hissing and scratchy sound.It’s a shame, because I really liked the radio for its looks and FM sound quality. I returned this radio and chose another model with both automatic and manual tuning in AM mode.

Easy to use, sound is good but most important is the FM reception. As long as you raise the telescoping antenna and the unit is not placed near a wall with switches and outlets the stations are clear.

I use the Sangean PR-D19BU in my workshop and sometimes outside. Reception is good as it has a long antenna which can rotate. There is no AC (outlet) adaptor so you will need to purchase one separately if you require one.

We bought the radio specifically for use on the beach. For 20 plus years going to the same beach we always had trouble tuning stations with the numerous radios and boom boxes we dragged along with us.I stumbled on this radio and decided to give it a try.WOW this radio can get stations!Using rechargeable batteries we get about 18 hours play time at medium volume.The size is compact and easy to use.The sound for the size is outstanding.It does not blow over on windy days and the rubber wrap keeps it from slipping.Radio presets and time are stored while changing batteries.

I bought the white one and saved 4 bucks. It works like a dream. Very, very good reception on both AM and FM bands. Found some stations none of my previous radios could pick up. And the sound was just great. I was happy that I spent the extra money to buy this radio. It is what I wanted. It has 2 small speakers but they produce clear, sharp sound. And it has 20 memory presets. 10AM and 10 FM. Does not come with a cord, but you can buy one if you really want one. And it has a clock.

Update Feb 1, 2016: Sound went out after about 30 days of daily use. Had to send it back to Amazon.Nice compact radio. Audio quality is excellent and design as well.Pros:- Nice design and compact size. See attached picture.- Sound is excellent for the size; much better than others in the same category. Ideally as a kitchen or shop radio.- The presents are on the top and with raised numbering.Cons:- Buttons and lettering may be too small for near-sighted people in their mid-40s, but you do become accustomed to the buttons.- I would've like for it to come with an AC adapter.
