I work outside overnight, so its does get cold. I wear a thermal shirt and a t-shirt under this and as long as the temp is above 10 to 15 degrees, you will be fine. Any lower and I would put on a thin sweatshirt and I'm fine all night. It does have a outside chest pocket that stays pretty dry. This is a great, warm coat. The only issue, which can be a big one is that for some odd reason the elbows can soak up some water. Being outside in a snowstorm with -10 windchill, I'm staying warm, but if I have to get on the ground and its wet and my elbows have to touch the ground, or have to lean against something wet, my elbows will be soaked.

I love this coat. I work outside for hours at a time with extreme below cero weather. This coat keeps me warm. Of course you would need to wear other layers if you also work outside on below cero weather. Trust me it will keep you warm. Utility worker for 17 years. Went ahead and gave it a try cause I got tired of those coats sold by the company that would only keep you warm for an hour.

I work in construction and currently work in the cold . Sometimes it rains and there's water everywhere in the building. I have to lean my forearms at times. All the water penetrates the jackets sleeves and have to work with arms wet. Only good thing is that when is completely dry it's a warm jacket.
