I got this for keeping food warm, while the remainder of cooking is completed. We have only used this for pancakes and sausages (twice) but it has been effective both times. The mat stays cool around the edges and underneath, with only the heated section warming up. I was a little apprehensive at first because the warning on the element does caution about extended use on certain surfaces, including glass and we have recycled glass countertops, which are pretty hardy. I checked it several times during the course of warming and the counter did not feel overly warm, thanks to the pretty substantial vented ridges lifting it up off the counter, which you can see in the closeup photo of the mat. It cooled quickly after and rolled up easily with an included velcro strap to store back in the box. I was very pleased with its performance & it will get good use, especially when we have company. The only thing I can possibly criticize is that I was not able to easily fit it back into the fabric sack it came in, but I feel the box will be sufficient to protect and it is easy to store. Besides: (full disclosure!): sometimes I have difficulty getting maps to fold back together properly so perhaps I didn't roll it tightly enough. Very small criticism!

This warming mat for food is great. We will be using it to keep serving dishes warm, speeding up the thawing process with frozen food, and when grilling steaks to keep them nice and warm during the meat resting time. Just talking about it with my wife, we will also be using it to keep takeout food hot between first and second helpings.I was concerned with the mat transferring heat to the surface it is placed on but that looks like it will not be a problem. The silicone feet on the back/bottom of the mat are nice and tall and numerous enough to keep the mat elevated while firm without sagging between the feet. Heavy items should be supported.The non-slip silicone material grabs so things won’t slide around or off. The cord is detachable and the pad rolls up to go inside the included bag for storage when not being used.Keeping my hand on top, the mat heats very quickly. I liked that after setting the lowest target temperature of 122 degrees the display switched to the actual heating temperature. I could watch the temperature rise toward the set point. 122 degrees is hot. It did seem a little hotter along the left side but I could find no cool spots. The settable temperatures are 122, 140, 158, 176, 194, and 212 degrees Fahrenheit. The display is in degrees Fahrenheit. FYI, I could not find a way to switch it to Celsius. I tried holding the set temperature button down but that didn’t work and it is not mentioned in the manual.The mat has a power off timer that can be set from 0 to 6 hours. Not sure what the 0 hours is since if you don’t set the timer, it will power off six hours after the last key press. I also don’t think the 0 hour setting disables the timer.Finally with cleaning, the description mentions a waterproof touch panel control designed for safety. In the manual is a warning not to flush the product with water. I expect that with the touch sensitive controls, the top of the control panel is waterproof. The silicone part of the heating mat is water resistant but the entire product is not submersible; it cannot be flooded with water. The power control panel on the right side is a top and bottom part screwed together with the mat between and if this is flooded water will seep right inside.I really like this foldable electric food warming tray by TFMUZERT. It is well made and should last a long time.
