I had high hopes that this foot switch would help me with freeing up my hands while working with my power tools. Unfortunately, this switch does not work.No matter which electrical circuit I tried this switch on, it would pop that circuit breaker as soon as I plugged it in. Without a tool, with a tool, it made no difference. This switch has something seriously wrong with it to pop a circuit breaker when I just plug it in without a tool plugged into it. In that condition, the circuit should still be open since the foot switch is what closes the circuit to power on the tool attached. What's worst is that, if no tool is attached, the circuit should still be open since the foot switch just closes the line to enable power to flow to the piggyback socket you plug the tool into.Fortunately I did not get an electrical shock since there is obviously a short in the switch that pops the breaker. Do not buy this.Edit: I took this switch apart and did continuity checks to see why this switch kept tripping my breakers and found that this switch is wired with the neutral and ground connected together to form a "neutral-ground bond" or otherwise known as a "zombie ground". This type of circuit short cut is not allowed with current NEC electrical code and will disrupt GFCI circuits; which is why my circuits kept tripping. This type of zombie ground is used in older houses that have only older 2 wire circuits and don't have current electrical 3-wire grounding circuits. The problem is that it doesn't provide a real ground! If your machine shorts there is the potential to energize the metal casing of your machinery which may provide current that may be a shock hazard. Since this switch is targeted at large machinery, such as tablesaws and other woodworking machines, there is the potential to make your power tool as real electrical hazard if a short occurs. I can't say this enough, if you are going to buy a foot switch to add the safety of foot control to your power tools, be sure to buy one that ADDS safety and not one that creates electrical problems.

I feel dumb. I knew these things existed, yet I never thought I had much use for one around the house. Boy was I wrong. Now, I'm honestly looking to buy a few more, including some that include voltage control. It's an incredibly simple gadget, plug your device into the piggyback plug, then plug it in to the wall socket (or extension cord). Voila! Your device is now switched on and off using your foot, leaving both hands free to do whatever you need to do.Drilling a bunch of holes at the drill press and hate letting go of your workpiece to turn it on and off every time? Foot switch.Cutting some intricate scrollwork on your scroll saw and don't have a free hand to turn off the machine? Foot switch.Refining the inside of a circle on your spindle sander and don't want to lift your piece off while the sander is running? Foot switch.Like I said, this thing has endless uses. I'm sure I could find some uses in the kitchen as well.Excellent product. Works like a charm.
