I have edema from heart failure and when my feet and ankles are all swollen up my boots do not fit! I thought these ceder inserts were to stretch out the leather, but all they do is hold the boot tops up and smell nice. I'm returning them.

Worth the investment if you've invested in a quality pair of boots that you would like to retain their shape.

Too much for what they do. Get the cedar shavings.

Needed these for my Dressage boots. They are very sturdy- heavier than I expected. Made of high quality cedar. I anticipate I’ll have these for years to come.

I purchased these through Amazon warehouse for a significant savings. I have 16" Chippewa Engineer boots, they are made of a heavy leather. I purchased these boot trees rather than cheaper plastic ones because the leather is so thick. I wanted to preserve the shape of these expensive boots as well as increase their longevity. I was concerned about these trees being large enough for the shaft of the boots. The spreading mechanism is adjustable. The eyelet / eyebolt is threaded and by untheading the halves from each other they expanded. After a little trial and error I achieved a perfect fit and I was able to slide them in with a snug fit. They have a pleasant cedar odor and I expect them to work wonderfully. They seem plenty sturdy enough for their intended use. I suppose they could do some light stretching if you used a liberal amount of stretching fluid on the leather first, but I think it would be easy to over stress the connector on the trees.

The cedar scent is very nice to keep your boots fresh and clean smelling.

I love the sturdiness of these, plus there is an easy workaround when using in conjunction with shoe trees. I simply place the metal top of the boot tree in the forward heel cut of the shoe tree (metal top can also be removed entirely), tucked just under the front of the shaft and start of the boot, ensure they're snug with the shafts of my boots, and turn them upside down. When I go to put them on the next day, the boot trees are still snug against the shafts, and I find storing the boots upside downto be better for the shafts in my experience.

I bought some calf-length leather boots and noticed some creasing and slouching at the ankle. I’ve had great experiences with cedar shoe trees before, so I decided on this product for its quality and ease of use. Cedar is also a must have with boots since it’s so easy for them to get musty during the winter. The boot trees came packaged very well. There wasn’t any instructions on how to use, but I figured it out pretty easily. Just place the closed boot tree inside the boot and push the knob side down to get that tension going. Given that it’s pure cedar wood, I’m sure that these will last me almost my entire lifetime. I’m very happy with the purchase.

This cedar boot support is actually quite amazingly good! It holds my boots up and it is easily adjustable. Plus it works 100% fine with a pair of cedar shoe trees at the base. Overall, it is a bit pricey but who can put a definite price on BIFL? You won't be disappointed...good quality and built to last. This has been a Wholovesamonkey report...signing off!

Beautiful cedar boot trees with quality metal hardware. Worth the price if you're trying to keep expensive boots upright. That said, there is a weakness. These would work perfectly if I also didn't use shoe trees to keep the foot box of the boots in shape. The issue is the rear portion of the shoe tree blocks the bottom of the boot trees from fitting into the heel of the cowboy boot, thus making the tree not a true fit. I rest them in the boot to keep the boot upright, but they aren't "fitted". I'm still glad I have them.
