It needs to be full volume on Bluetooth to even hear music.Every person that said this was good knows nothing about car audio. It's junk and I wasted money and time installing this junk

I have been wanting to upgrade my stock 2015 Ram 1500 - 8.4 touchscreen radio for a while. Having two newer hybrids with Android Auto and Apple Carplay makes my truck radio seem ancient. AA and CP were not stock in Ram 1500s until 2017/2018 (wired only). I read up on these Android car radios and figure I would give this one a try. While there are a ton of them on Amazon, they are pretty much all the same except for a few things here or there (mostly plugs/accessories and software options). I like these Android radios though as they look OEM and keep all of my hardwired buttons and features. I prefer these over those Tesla-style replacements with the controls on a touchscreen. This Android car radio is rather new and only had Amazon Vine reviews when I bought it a month ago. I bought this myself, so this review is based on me spending my own money. The radio comes installed in a template that is to replace your current radio trim. Mine is the Auto AC version, so I had to do a few extra things. I had to remove the current radio trim and my middle console trim in order to remove the old radio. I also have a few extra connectors that most Youtube videos don't have. You need to also remove the A/C controls from the OEM trim piece. That part is not too bad, but I recommend watching a Youtube video on how to do it (they are all rather similar). Make sure you get the plastic clear pieces around the knobs as well. If you do have the Auto AC, you have to make sure the Volume and Tune knobs go on with a small notch in one exact spot, or your knobs will feel stiff and wobble when turned. Took me 5 hours to figure out why they were not working correctly, but there are a couple of Youtube videos that point the notches out (hard to know what they are pointing to though since it is so small). The radio wiring is pretty straight forward if you watch a Youtube video of how to install an Android car radio (I have also attached a picture of the wiring diagram sent to me from customer service). The plugin locations on the back of the radio might be different for these radios, but they are pretty much all the same. I had the OEM backup camera, so I had to plug the two yellow RCA connectors together in order for it to work. If you want to use your OEM GPS (if you have one) instead of the cheap small one the radio came with, then purchase a Fakra Z Male to SMA Male Vehicle Antenna Adapter Cable. You plug the OEM GPS/SiriusXM mustard colored connector into one end and the other screws on the GPS connector of the radio.I also have parking sensors on my truck. If you want to hear the audible beeps, you must install the speaker that comes with this radio. I was able to stick it to the back of the trim above the small cubby near the bottom. I highly recommend you also use one of the USB connectors in order to have hardwired Android Auto as backup. The 6-pin one will work if you use the 4-pin connector for the backup camera. I ran the USB wire down by the side of the passenger seat foot well where the center console had an opening (you can see some with the radio trim off). I didn't want to drill holes elsewhere for something I was not sure I wanted to keep yet. Once all the wire connectors are plugged together, you can put everything back together. As for the radio itself, it is fine. This comes with Android 14, which most radios sold on here only have 13. Will you know the difference? Probably not. Also this comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of drive space. 32GB of drive space is plenty (I only used 15GB), so don't worry unless you plan on downloading videos to watch on this thing. 4GB of RAM though is a must for any of these radios if you want smooth operation. There really are no instructions for this radio, so you have to play around with the settings. There is a hard reset button, so you can reset everything if something messes up. It comes stock with apps for Radio, Carlink 2.0 (the AA and CP app), wheel controls, air controls, etc.The air controls for my RAM are not 100% functional no matter what settings I use. I had to change the vehicle setup in the CANBUS settings. The CANBUS unit sets up the vehicle as a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but the radio didn't seem to work correctly with everything on that setting. I changed it to Dodge Ram - Low and everything works except for one thing. I had to control the vent functions (top, bottom/floor, defrost and floor, etc.) through my OEM touchscreen radio. But Dodge Ram - Low does not allow that because it is for those vehicles with a manual control button. There is a Dodge Ram - High setting, but it then does not provide the correct temps when pushing those temp buttons (only gave me Low and High but nothing in between). The Dodge Ram - Low setting gives me temps from Low to High with 62 F to 84 F in the middle. Since I hardly change the vent settings, I stuck with the Low setting for now. Another thing about this radio is that it is pretty much like an Android tablet, so you can install anything from the Google Play store. All of these Android Auto tablets have the exact same screen and button layout on the front (buttons along the left side with the mic and reset near the top). Make sure you purchase a 9 inch Android radio screen protector. I got one that is more of a hard plastic and it works/looks very good! I also read that people with polarized sunglasses will not be able to see these Android radio screens without a screen protector on them (YMMV). As for the side buttons, they pretty much work. I do seem to have to hit them twice to get them to respond though. The internal mic on the front works, but people say I sound muffled or underwater. This seems to be an issue with all of these Android radios. You cannot disable it either (unless you physically remove it - see Youtube videos), and using the external mic makes an echo sound because the internal one is on as well. I just decided not to use the mics on the radio and answer via my phone for calls. I hardly get any calls while driving anyway. There is supposedly a setting in some radios to improve the audio of the mics, but this one seems to not have that option. I just wish they included a connector for the OEM mic built into my rearview mirror. It was the only connector I had leave off the radio. As for Android Auto, which is the main reason to get this radio, it works pretty well. If you setup for automatic connection, just know it works about 50% of the time. When it doesn't connect, all I had to do was hit the home button and then Carlink 2.0 again. Then it seemed to connect. Android Auto looks exactly like it does in other cars. This radio does support the AA and CP wireless connection over Bluetooth, or you can use one of the USB plugs that came with the radio to do a wired version. Wired works 100% of the time and flawlessly. Wireless seems to lag or stagger if you do anything else on your phone (like text or phone call). But only for the first few seconds, then it works fine while you do something else. As for Apple Carplay, I do not own an iPhone and cannot review that part. I would assume it would work like AA.The other functions work well. Radio tunes nicely, sound is actually better than OEM, and wheel controls all work. The Wi-Fi on the device is 2.4ghz only and does work ok. You can connect via that to a Wi-Fi network close by, or hotspot from your phone. This is how you update the apps and map features. Google Maps does work on the device directly, but I found the AA version to work much better. This device does NOT have a 4g cell option, so that is why it is cheaper than some others. If you need the password to enter the Factory settings, it is 3368. Many Android radios use the same password and it not specific to your radio.Overall Pros: Android Auto works as intended 95% of the time, FM radio is good, sound is as good if not better than OEM (especially if you use the DSP to tune things), almost all OEM functions/settings work (may have to hunt for them), customer service responds quickly, and this radio visually makes the vehicle look more up-to-date.Overall Cons: Android radio seems to need 30 seconds or so to warm up on car start or functions lag / don't work, OEM backup camera works but is not as responsive/lags, SiriusXM hardwired connector is not available (would really increase the costs of these radios I am guessing), mics included for calls suck (all Android radios have this issue), car settings not setup correctly for my RAM 1500 from the start (had to change vehicle in CANBUS), and future updates may not be available (potential security issue?).Overall, I would recommend this radio for the price. It works with a few hiccups, and is much cheaper than an OEM replacement that cost $800 to $2k. Customer service does respond in a timely manner if needed. If this radio lasts two years and then craps out, I will feel it was totally worth it. The radio looks OEM and will upgrade you to wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Extremely rare for me to write a review but rarely are we overly surprised when making a skeptical purchase. This is such a purchase. Caught it on sale for a lot cheaper than I was about to spend for a quality receiver for my 2016 ram laramie. The installation is so simple you don’t need instructions. Just don’t over think it. It looks so good that no one can even tell I changed the stereo. Until you turn it on. Then you can hear the sharp crisp sound quality. Very responsive. Everything works on the truck with what comes in the box. Great item so cheap you won’t believe it’s the real deal!

What an upgrade for our 2017 Ram. My mom is enjoying it very much. Especially the fact that she can use her iPhone through it. She is able to make calls without directly using her phone. Everything shows clear and precise, especially the map. She definitely needed a bigger screen for her map than mounting her phone. It’s great that we were also able to connect a back up camera (which is not included, but it was an easy installation) since you can use this stereo to view it. The sound is great as well, which was the important part for dad. Fit great, and it was an easy installation overall (according to my dad). Of course the look of it is clean. the truck definitely looks more updated now.

If there's anything to complain about it's how many connections and wires you have to hook up. But then, it's got so many features, that's just how it is. Everything you need to complete the job is included. You might want to have some wiring experience, or have a friend with that experience helping when you install this, but once you're done you'll be thrilled with the upgrade. Made a 2016 Ram seem modern, and at a price a lot cheaper than a dealer or a car electronics place. Well worth it.

This 9-inch stereo for Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 (2013–2019) with manual AC offers a sleek and modern infotainment boost. One of its major pros is the built-in wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless smartphone integration without cluttering the cabin with cables. The 4G RAM and 64G memory configuration ensures smooth performance and enough space for apps, music, and maps. Users also appreciate the GPS navigation that functions offline, making it a reliable tool for road trips or off-grid travel. The large touchscreen is responsive and clear, elevating both aesthetics and usability compared to the stock unit. However, there are some drawbacks to keep in mind. First, the unit is only compatible with manual AC setups, which excludes a portion of Ram owners with automatic climate control. Some users report minor installation challenges, particularly with wiring or fitting the unit snugly into the dash, especially without professional help. While software performance is mostly smooth, occasional connectivity hiccups with CarPlay or Android Auto have been noted. Still, for those seeking a relatively affordable way to modernize their Dodge Ram’s cockpit, this head unit delivers solid value with rich functionality.
