I ordered this $19 set of a dozen 1 ounce (30ml) Foraineam ceramic tea cups (Amazon ASIN B0DYVCLBXB) for the single reason that when people sit at the table to enjoy a pot of piping hot tea, they want it HOT!How do these small teacups make it hot? They don't. But, it's hot in the pot, so when they pour a small amount into their teacup, it's still hot as there's only a few sips of tea in these tiny cups. Therein lies the beauty of the small size after all. You savor a few sips of hot tea in these cups, and when you want more hot tea, you pour yourself more from the pot.Now on to the teacups themselves. The Amazon listing says they're suitable for rice wine (sake) or tea, where I'm using them for tea. The listing says they can also be used for drinking a popular Korean distilled beverage named soju. Apparently the reference to "kungfu" indicates these are also aimed for the Chinese style used for kungfu tea ceremonies for savoring the tea.Each cup is a different color, with a baked-on cracked glazing intentionally caused by a mismatch in the rates that the underlying clay body expands and contracts during firing in the kiln and cooling thereafter. Interestingly the enamel extends all over the cup save for the base, where you can feel the original underlying fired clay at the bottom of some of the teacups, but not others. Some have a clear uncracked glaze that covers the entire cup - while others do not. Go figure.I'd be remiss if I didn't mention also that there's a aesthetically appealing raised painted fish in the bottom of each teacup, which is a nice way to look at your tea. I measured each teacup at just under 2-1/2 inches in OD (about 2 inches ID) at the top, and about 1-1/4 inches in height.Overall, this cute set of a dozen Foraineam ceramic teacups are small but colorful 1-ounce cups with a raised relief painted fish inside, suitable for savoring hot tea in small, frequent servings, as well as sake or soju. I love the little koi at the bottom of the cup and the colors. These cups are both functional and fun to look at. They hold just a small portion of sake or tea. I have one next to the couch to set my morning green tea bag in also. The price is good at eighteen bucks for the whole set. The ceramic is good quality and will last. Note that they are indeed sake size and tiny. You could take two along for a picnic easily.
