I discovered our model was built in the part of the year that the factory did not cut out and install a cabin filter. However, the outline and markings are there as well as the nubs that this cover snaps into. I was able to use a utility knife to cut out where its marked slide in a filter and this cover snapped right on. Perfect fit.

For some goofball reason Ford completely sealed the air cabin box on 2009 Ford Flex models at the factory. This means you cannot add or replace a cabin air filter to the vehicle unless you manually cut a hole in it and add this cover to the box. This is the correct cover part for the 2009 Flex. Works perfectly.
