Copper coating made soldering easy. Love the strength of the rod but did make cutting it difficult (worth the trouble, tho).

Not as shown! This was a disappointment. I was working on making a mouse trap car and thought I had finally come across the best Item for the job of the axel. It was coated in a white chalk like substance so it would not roll, and I couldn't use a die on it to make threads.Overall, very unsatisfied with the product. Maybe if I was a welder I would use the chalk stuff, but the image doesn't show it.

I ordered these and instead of copper rods as pictured, I received brassy-colored steel rods coated heavily in some kind of white chalky substance. I thought they had just sent the wrong item, so I requested an exchange, and they sent me the exact same thing, again. I don't weld -- maybe the white stuff is some sort of substance to help with welding, but if that is the case it should be pictured that way, and there should be some mention of it in the description. I bought these for the purpose of cutting them and hammering them out to make jewelry... so unless I can figure out how to get the white crud off, they are completely useless for my purposes. And judging by the non-coppery color (more of a brass/dull goldish) peeking through at the tips, they still may not work for me even if I can remove it.

What is there to say about a welding rod. The rods serve purpose with the flexiability of having them shipped to you and not running to the shop to pick up simple things.
