I have used nail clippers made by Four Paws for over 20 years. They were recommended to me by my veterinarian.

Easy to use and safe with the way these nail clippers are made.Best to wait and clip the kitten’s nails when she just wakes or is sleepy that way the process is not traumatic for both you and your pet cat or kitten

First purchased from Purfect Post website which sells cat scratching posts that are developed by a Veterinarian. The website also sold these claw clippers which I ordered and have used for years. Very pleased with item and durability. You always need to be careful when cutting your cat's nails irregardless of the good quality.

This clipper is small, yet manages to trim my cat's claws without splitting or crushing them,With my kitten, I lay him on his back in my lap and give him treats or toys to chew on while holding band snipping the particular paw. At this stage the thing he dislikes most about nail trimming is how boring it is. I mean, he could be running up and down the stairs instead! In order to make nail trimming as pleasant as possible, I only do a few nails at a time, then follow it up with treats, cuddles, and present him with a toy.On the other hand, I also have an a senior who hates having her claws trimmed because having her limbs moves around causes pain in her considerably arthritic hips and knees. I've tried to have an assistant distract her with her favorite treats, but that only works for her front paws, and it's success is intermittent at best. Her hind paws get trimmed every 2 months and I have my roommate wrap her in a towel and hold her as I clip one paw at a time. These little scissors are small, easy to maneuver, and don't make a sickening "crunch" sound when used. All these things make it far easier to quickly clip my senior's paws with as little fuss as possible. And of course it's followed up with treats and affection, for good measure.

These work so well! The cats barely notice (and then I think they only notice because I'm playing with their paws, not because of the clippers). Before I had been using regular nail clippers and they were sometimes hard to hold while trying to hold a cat, too. Also, the regular human clippers compress the claw (which the cat feels) and often makes that clipping sound (which the cat hears) making it harder to keep the cat calm so you can finish the job.But these clippers don't compress the claw or make much of a noise when clipping.I have six cats (I know...) and while I'm lucky about half of them are fine with claw clipping, the other half aren't so chill about it. These clippers have made it easier and I can get several more claws clipped before they decide they're done (usually only taking one or two sessions to get all the claws instead of before when it would take several).I'm thinking about getting another pair so I can have them in two different locations (a relaxed cat is often ready for claw-clipping, but if I have to get up to go to another room to get the clippers, then they follow me and are no longer lounging). The only drawback I have with these is the small size of the finger holds. It's like using kid's scissors. They will sometimes make my fingers hurt or they'll get a little stuck and I have to stop and rearrange them before I can continue clipping. But, I'm overlooking that for now since they clip so well and less traumatically than nail clippers.

First off, I will say that my cat is easy. He is very laid back and does not balk much. However, he is never thrilled at getting his claws trimmed and usually I get only one or two clipped before he is off and running. With this clipper, the same thing happened: I got two nails clipped before he was squirming around alot and my trying to continue just made him leap to the floor where he sat giving me stink-eye. But half a minute later I invited him back up on my lap and I picked up the clipper again. This time he let me clip without much fuss and I was able to do all remaining nails with little resistance from kitty. Again, I will say my cat is easy; he is a huge orange male and those have a reputation for being very loving and easy-going. He is still not thrilled about claw clipping but he tolerates it now, maybe because it goes a lot faster with this clipper than it ever did with others I have tried. I would have given this clipper five stars if the finger holes were a bit larger because approaching the task from various angles is often necessary, and larger finger holes would be helpful for easier angling.

Good clipper, cuts my cats' nails as intended. The finger holes are a bit small, so bare in mind if you are a person with big fingers. Pretty basic product with nothing to complain about!

I'm so glad I bought this for my cat. I was afraid that clipping her nails would be a trip to the ER waiting to happen, but it's really sharp and well-designed. The sharpness is the most important part to me because I used to have to clip my parents' dog's nails and, even though he's a small dog, he has really thick nails. He runs in terror when he sees the clippers come out and scream for freedom when you caught him because his nails would splinter from the excessive force needed to cut through. My cat, on the other hand, is like most other cats and doesn't jump for joy to get her finger-daggers chopped off, but because I've used these since I adopted her as a kitten, she doesn't associate nail-clipping with pain. She's naturally whiny and will struggle if you hold her for too long in general, but she doesn't even realize that I'm clipping her nails until I'm pretty much finished and then I can tell she's realized that I'm not just trying to snuggle her to death (which I'm convinced is what she thinks I'm attempting to do every time I pick her up). I let her go at this point and come back later if I wasn't able to finish. These clippers make a really clean cut so there's minimal blunt pressure on the nail and no splintering at all. It's precise enough that I've actually used it for young kitten nails, just to take the edge off (no pun intended) and get them used to the feeling. One reviewer was saying they're not that comfortable, but I never had an issue. My hands aren't petite, but I have long fingers. The grip is pretty small, though, and I can see how that would be an issue if you had larger or thicker hands.Best purchase I made for my cat, though, and I feel like they'll last me forever.
