Accuracy is good even if you work with tenths, all the black plastic locking clamps will break within a month of use! And they don't sell spare clamps.

Very decent micrometer set. Not quite what I used for decades in my professional life but certainly adequate for my retired home shop use. I purchased and returned a lower priced set as they were no better and maybe worse than just using a decent dial caliper. I need these for tenths measurements when machining press fits and bearing fits. After inspecting and zeroing this set looks like it's up to task.

No good micrometer is cheap. These are a great value for the accuracy they give. I wouldn't assemble anything going to space with these. But these will still measure anything with a very good level of accuracy. They do a fine job measuring tensile samples and car parts.

A good value for the price. Easy to read numbers, even better than some other brands. Excellent accuracy, and arrived within a couple tenths. I was able to calibrate them very quickly. My main concern is that the locking levers are plastic. A metal lever would be more durable. Overall though, still well worth the money.

It's one of the time where you get what you paid for. This is your average harbor freight, mastercraft quality. All 4 micrometers feels plastic ABS on the locking lever, ratchet thimble, etc. The 1 inch calibration rod is definitely off, by 0.0002 oversized, measured with a backup mitutoyo and starret. The 2 inch calibration rod seems to be off also and the fowler 1-2 & 2-3" mics fall within the category. So you can't really be sure if it's the mic, the rod or actually both that are required to calibrate. The 3 inch calibration rod show promise somewhat, at least the 3-4" hit on the money or is it?Anyways, micrometer 2-3" & 3-4" have burrs and sharp edge on the body frame have some sort of stain all over them.In all thimble ratchet, there's loose play which is not desirable. The foam packing is horrible and all micrometers are hitting each other during the shipping and transport.Plastic case for micrometers is damaged. There's no certificate of inspection or quality control approval. The only pro for the product, is the price for a set of 4 and the very low torque required to turn the micrometer spindle which is surprisingly light and smooth, even lighter than my starret or mitutoyo.I bought the product because I will need a general tool set for quick job and handling to co-worker and student so I won't have to worry much.I am still debating whether to keep it, or return it because of overall poor quality.

As a full time machinst. I wanted my own sets besides the shop sets. We have Mitutoyo and use the standards off them to check the accuracy on these Fowler mics and they are dead on. Had to fine tune them once I pulled them out the box but that's no big. The standards from the Fowler's are accurate after measuring them with the Mitutoyo micrometers. The micrometers feel nice n heavy which means they are made of soild material. I read the previous reviews and those negative reviews I don't think them dudes are real Machinist. The plastic grip, thimble grip and plastic lock is no big I kinda like it. You gotta think, these aren't C-clamps. The are a measuring instrument and they are meant to be taken good good care of. I give them a 8 star if I could.

I would rate these as a 5, but some of them came needing to be adjusted. Not enough that I bothered actually doing the adjustments, but a few tenths off.Case is good, feel is good, repeatability is good. This is the only set of these that I have owned, so take the above with a grain of salt.I also noticed that there was a fairly large thermo expansion / contraction rate ... I forget the numbers, but you will want to make sure that you do not make the mistake of checking something while the tool is too hot or too cold. (or hot for one measurement and cold for the next) I know this is machining 101 ... Just thought I should say it anyway.

Very good quality, just like Mitutoyo, at a fraction of price. Highly accurate

Awesome set of mics! I am pretty impressed with the quality of Fowler products considering the price compared to other brands. I wish I would have got this set of mics years ago.

For the price these are fantastic. If I'd had more to spend I could have gotten better, but while these don't have a feel that inspires total confidence they do give consistent readings. I've been using these as a student for a little over a year, and the 0-1 is occasionally a little sticky feeling and requires a few extra turns on the friction thimble to actually give a confident reading. This may just be a cleanliness issue, however, because I also use these when checking dimensions during grinding. I lack the experience to be certain that it's the tool and not my [mis/ab?]use of it.I still think I'll buy some nicer ones once I have the money, however. These are serviceable, not deluxe.
