I use this daily and bought one for a guy in my shop. Got tired of the cheap ones and I appreciate that this DOESN'T have a magnet. So smooth and definitely feels like a quality tool. And it costs just enough that I am careful to not leave it around where I will lose it.

Very nicely made well thought out for years of use, you can adjust the tip out longer or shorter if thats what you prefer thick aluminum body and its very nice to be able to retract the tip when carrying in your pocket i liked it so much I now have three just in case they disside to stop making it ill have extras

Ever drop your your carbide scribe tool and break off the point? Since this retracts, that won't happen as easily. I mostly work with aluminum, HRS, CRS and 4140 steels. It does the job. I am about to do some work on HSS. I'm sure leaving a scribe line will be harder, but this is carbide. It will do the job!

I didn't know they still made these, haven't seen them around in years now. These are actually still made in Switzerland and from what I remember they seem to be exactly the same with very high quality machining and parts. It's a pretty simple but smart design, way many more parts than you might expect...photo from their site attached. The main body is aluminum and the pusher rod is aluminum but most of the rest is hardened steel. You can adjust the protrusion of the nib using a long fine threaded screw and knurled brass lock nut, and of course that lets you adjust for resharpening or breakage over time as well. All spare parts are available but here in the states about all you can find are the spare carbide tips which are usually around fifteen bucks. This is longer than the typical scribes at 6.5" and a touch fatter. The thin extended nose is great for getting closer to a guide/corners or inside a hole or slot. Point comes extra sharp and handles HRc65 all day long with no trouble. You can remove the pocket clip if you like. The clicker isn't clicky so much and the mechanism is interesting. If it wants to hang up sometimes when engaging on or off, do it again or you can disassemble and put a teeny bit of very light machine oil on things. These really are great and you'll probably never want to go back to the clunkier but much cheaper carbide scribes out there from any company/brand. Remember to use these as gently as you can since even high quality carbide like this is somewhat friable - keep the tip sharp and you shouldn't need to use much pressure at all.

Used this Scribe on hardwood and aluminum for marking/layout, and it works perfectly for what I need.No bluing is needed on aluminum plates, and the markings are easy to see on hardwood as well. Like that the tip retracts...so I don't punch a hole in my apron. These work like the old-school precision Drafting Pencils !
