I ordered this tea infuser to replace an existing one that I just bought a few weeks ago (which I'd paid about $4 more for), that's unfortunately already a little broken. This infuser by Fox Run is definitely superior given its "slide" function which helps prevent chances of misaligning the ball, and causing the contents to slip out.1 star off just because the "ball" itself isn't the very best quality in make however, the rest of the item, i.e. the handle/slide function are super smooth and high quality. It's a nicer, thicker metal at the top. I'd definitely recommend it for the current price of about ~$10.50 CAD. That said, I have found some in some TJX stores in packs of two for the same price or less. Just depends on whether you've got the time to hunt or not. Still, it's a decent price for the quality, and I always trust Fox Run home items-- they're never a let down!

This Fox Run tea ball infuser is rather larger than a typical tea ball strainer. It is 2 inches in diameter. One side of the ball is perforated, and the other side is solid. The construction seems to be very sturdy. It is all metal, a nice shiny stainless steel. You open the tea ball by pushing down on the plunger, as if giving an injection. Depressing the plunger pushes the solid half of the ball away, exposing the inside of the solid half. It is then ready and open to receive loose tea leaves or ready to scoop up icing sugar or flour or whatever you're wanting to sprinkle. The plunger works on a spring. When you release your thumb from the plunger, the solid half of the ball automatically retracts back into place. The spring mechanism seems strong. The two halves of the ball are aligned perfectly, so that there are no gaps. When using the ball to dust flour or icing sugar, the ball releases a very fine, even dusting. For smaller icing sugar jobs or for sprinkling flour into a gravy, I much prefer using this ball rather than using a shaker can with a mesh top. The ball gives me much better control, especially when dusting the corners of a pan of brownies. However, the ball doesn't hold much, so a shaker can is better for big jobs.In terms of using the ball as a tea infuser, I didn't have any loose tea leaves on hand to test the ball, so I cut open a tea bag of Tetley's Earl Grey tea and emptied the contents into the ball. I noticed that the contents of the tea bag were much much finer (ie, smaller) than regular loose tea leaves are. When I submerged the tea ball into the hot water, I found that some tiny specks of tea leaves did get released into the water. I find this tea ball released far fewer stray tea leaves than any other tea ball I've used. The only bad thing about this tea ball is that I found it a bit awkward to clean because the two halves of the ball do not completely separate when the plunger is depressed--there are a few millimetres of overlap between the 2 hemispheres, even in the maximal open position. I had to really be painstaking when getting into the overlapped areas with my dishcloth. However, this is only for the initial cleaning upon receiving the brand new product, to get rid of any manufacturing residue. Once that initial cleaning has been done, the ball is easy to rinse clean after future uses.Verdict:Whether for dusting of icing sugar or flour, or for use as a tea ball, this is a high quality tool.5/5 Highly recommended

I really like this flour/sugar duster. It's really simple. It's made of two half spheres and one of the half spheres has small holes. It's really handy for when I make my own pasta. This device allows me to more evenly dust the flour on to the pasta sheets and also prevents me from sprinkling too much. One thing that I had to get used to was to rotate the device 180° so that the sphere without the holes is facing down when I'm done dusting, otherwise more flour ends up on the countertop. Also, the device doesn't open fully. There's a small part where the two half spheres overlap. When cleaning, I need to reach my finger in there to make sure all the flour is rinsed away. Other than that, this duster is great for cooks/bakers. I haven't used it for loose tea.

I am very pleased with this tea infuser and would highly recommend. The Positives:- The tea infuser opens and closes easily and smoothly and forms a firm seal.- It is easy to add loose tea to the infuser and empty and clean the infuser after each use.- The fine holes do an excellent job of straining the tea and I generally had no issues with tea leaking out. The only exception is that very fine loose tea leaks out, but only a small amount and I didn’t find it to be an issue.- Overall, the infuser works as promised and is a better option to using tea bags. There is no waste (since the infuser can be reused) and a healthier option (due to concerns that tea begs may have chemicals, such as bleaching chemicals, or micro plastics). The Negatives:I didn’t find any negatives with this product.

We intend to use this almost exclusively as a dusting wand for pastries and other baked goods, and this does the job for that swimmingly. The sliding halves make for easy filling, and the holes are only on one side which makes the process of loading in something like powdered sugar a fairly clean process. The wand successfully imparts a fine and very controlled dusting of powder. I made a bread pudding recently as as you can see I managed to keep the sprinkling pretty light with this.
