The title of this product states it is the Illy Y5 milk espresso and coffee machine. I ordered it, and was puzzled because the buttons look different from what is sold on the Illy website. This is their older product which is on clearance on their site, the Y5 milk espresso. This machine DOES NOT make coffee, and cannot take coffee pods. I feel that I was misled in purchasing this product, as it is not what is advertised. In addition, my machine does not make Lattes or Cappucinos that are as large as what is pictured or demonstrated in videos I have watched.

Very disappointed, the whole machine seems to be assembled in a clumsy way, the milk storage is difficult to refill, it takes AGES for the machine to wake up from sleep mode, totally not intuitive. After a week I replaced it with a Delonghi Latissima.

Works great for me. Not sure why all the bad reviews. Closest thing to restaurant made lattes and cappuccinos. My only complaint is ahen I make a latte or cappuccino, the frothed milk does come out luke warm for my tastes, but I just pop my finished latte/cappuccino into the microwave for 45 seconds.

Loved it for a while and now the touchpad works whenever it feels like it. Turn it on and off, on and off and perhaps it’ll make a cappuccino. Very little available online to troubleshoot. It looks nice but it just cannot keep up with demand or related use. I kept it clean and well maintained. I feel like burning it in effegy.

Great coffee taste, no comparison with other expresso machine, but the milk frother is not working. The milk come out liquid and it is impossible to have a decent capuccino. Such a shame as the coffee is so good. I sent it back.

Excellent coffee...Not put together well. By far the best tasting cappuccino from home. Tastes just as if you want to your favorite cafe. The Regular coffee I found to be a bit too weak/watery. Since that not was not why I purchased the machine it did not bother me too much. I really loved the cappuccino.The machine parts are solid and not cheap looking or feeling. However, the construction of the machine is not sturdy. The parts do not click tightly into place and do not stay right. I would have kept in anyway if it had not been for the expensive price.

I have to start by tell you that I am Illy's #1 fan. I love their coffee brand. I even have an app on my phone to locate places where they serve/sell Illy coffee. However, I'm extremely disappointed with this product. This machine was defective from the get-go. I don't know how it passed QC. The espresso never come out hot. is barely warm and by the time you put any sugar and stir it is cold. The milk dispenser for the froth is a hit or miss thing, 9 out 10 times only water comes out. You can't do a double-shot espresso, If you try to press the espresso key twice the machine gets confused and all lights start blinking to where you need to shut it down and restart it. You can't really do a large size latte because the space to put the cups doesn't hold tall glasses. The design looks very pretty but the functionality is non-existent. I was reluctant to give this review, because I genuinely love Illy's coffee brand but I have to be honest and ethical when it comes to these reviews. I think Illy has to go back to the drawing board and completely redesign this machine.

OK, this is an exciting new addition to the Francis Francis lineup. We've had a Y1 for many years and this unit stacks up nicely to that unit. Now, with the addition of milk you can make some different coffee drinks besides just straight espresso. We love the Illy system because all the brewing happens in the pods so there's very little maintenance. That won't be so true with this unit but it's still easier to keep clean than a traditional espresso machine that uses grounds (or even ESE pods). The cost per drink is higher than some other units but the quality of the espresso is excellent. All in all, we're really happy with this unit so far.
