The part itself seems sturdy enough and well made. I have used these fender extensions on other cycles I own and find they do a good job of keeping the lower engine cleaner.GL1800's from 2018 up have an issue with debris thrown up from the front tire damaging the engine casing because it is fairly thin. An engine guard to solve this issue is quite expensive and my thinking is that as reasonable a price as this is if it could possibly help it is worth it.The mount for this uses small screws from the side of the fender which leaves them exposed and kind of obvious. They should have blackened the mounting screws. I have mounted these by drilling through the back of the fender instead which tends to hide the mounting screws better. Be careful that the screw doesn't get into the tire, there is not a lot of clearance. The natural color of this matched the fender, it blends in nicely. It fit the contours of the fender very well.

I removed the front wheel to install this, so I did not use the template. The extender fits properly and extended the length enough to keep road grim off the front of the engine. The adhesive sticks well and I was able to attach and then adjust to get it centered and aligned so that I could drill the holes from the inside. Would be nice if the hardware was black.
