I already got a whole set of LED roof marker lights to replace the leak prone stock units, but one didn't work. The LED lights rely on the stock bulb sockets to plug in the LEDs and seal the light housing. My socket was severely corroded from water intrusion. I need to replace the socket but couldn't find them standalone. This item has the needed socket. That is all I will be using. I'll keep the housing around as a spare in case a tree branch takes one out again.If the stock lights are replaced with this entire light, chances are it will eventually leak just like the stock ones. The incandescent bulb heats up the plastic housing causing it to warp and lift off the surface of the van. Cracks form, water gets in and pools around the socket. LEDs eliminate most of the heat, so hopefully everything can remain sealed and not warped.
