The boot was much darker than expected. The image shows a beige boot but the one I received was almost brown. Also, it had stains on leather, the sole was badly glued on the boot, and it had small holes on the heel.

The break-in process was very tight at first, but these boots got very soft and comfortable, very quickly. The leather and look is absolutely beautiful. These have that smell of high quality leather, and after breaking in really mold to the shape of your feet. Nice boots. But why not 5 stars? The eyelets are a bit rough, and the sole is heavy. I wear many different pairs / types / styles / brands of boots, and these two aspects of this boot are a bit subpar for this price level. With such nice leather, it is a slight disappointment. All things considered, if I went back in a time machine I would buy these again. Highly recommended.

All my other Frye boots are size 10 and fit perfectly out of the box... these feel closer to 10 1/2. I purchased online for a trip and will probably still wear them and give them to charity after. I guess all Frye boots are not made equally. Unfortunately, I had to order these online... never again! They also look a little clunky which is probably because they are so loose on my feet... decent style but also not my favorite and I'll will probably avoid cap toe boots from now on. Nonetheless, they will serve their purpose.**UPDATE** So, I have a theory that these were manufactured in a place where people must tend to have slightly fat feet lol (much love Mexico). Also the insoles are just a very thin strip of leather which may be why they feel loose. I put a better insole in the boots. Now, they are pretty tight and feel similar to my other Frye boots. I also did a side by side comparison and the are the exact same length but are a bit wider design Honestly, I am not 100% sure these are real Frye boots... the leather feels a bit cheap and the box was all black. Every other pair of Frye boots I own came in a white box. I will probably avoid Amazon impulse buys as there seems to be a lot of counterfeiting going on as well as sales of B-stock items. I think I will also avoid buying boots made outside America; the UK or Italy.

Ordered these in my regular size a 10D. The fit is great. I'm a true size 10 D. Width & length is just right. No painful break in period. The quality of the leather, sole and overall construction of this boot Is excellent! Waxed laces look great & will last longer. Thought the quality of these boots would be good but it is better than I expected. They do have to be about half way unlaced to get them on which is kind of a pain but it's getting easier to put them on as they break in & the leather stretches. Even with that they are worth it. Excellent with jeans or slacks. I give them 5 stars for comfort, quality, fit & great looks.

I'm a bit of a snob regarding boots and shoes. This is my first pair of Frye boots, but will not be my last. I was impressed with them as soon as I opened the box. They look and feel like much more expensive boots—in fact, they are of higher quality than some that I've had that were over twice the cost. The leather is great; a little thicker than I expected (a good thing), it looks as soft, supple, and flexible as it is. Many of the competitors' classic-style, semi-work, semi-dress boots are either too clunky (e.g., Red Wing's Iron Ranger) or too dressy (e.g., Thursday's Captain). These thread the needle just right. Break-in time was relatively short—for me it just took a couple of full days of wearing them to the office to do it, and I never got a blister or hot spot. My feet fall right in the middle of sizes 9 and 9.5. I got a 9 in the Frye Seth Cap Toe and wear thin socks. The shoes stretched a little with wear making them mold to my feet like custom-made boots. Then I didn't want to take them off. They don't rub anywhere or have any weird sole issues. I have had to use heel pads on some expensive shoes/boots before, but not these—the built-in cushion and rubber heel combine to make these shoes even feel good for brief running spurts to get out of the rain, and the grippy soles give confidence. Please know that I very rarely give reviews, and even more rarely do I give one that is so glowing. But for the past week, while wearing my Fryes, the thought has gone through my mind many times of how impressed I am with these boots, so I determined to review them before I was even asked by Amazon to do so. I was also going to review them on Frye's website, but it seems as if they are no longer offering them! Too bad. Makes me want to get another pair for when these are hard to find (although I bet I'll be able to resole these if they ever wear out)! Great, great, boots.

I really like the style, very classic design and very comfortable at first use, no break in required. The sole is rubber which i prefer over leather soles. It takes some effort putting it on and off but hopefully eventually it gets easier. Also for the price to quality ratio, a recommended buy.

My DH wanted an ankle boot but hated the look of the iconic "desert" boot, ie., no suede. Was very surprised to find a Frye at this price but wondered if the quality was "Frye". There was a short break-in period of about 10 days and he now loves these. Absolutely the perfect shoe: substantial without being leather bricks. Molded to his feet as good leather is supposed to. Wish there was something similar for women!

Received the boots and they look fantastic! I normally wear a 11.5 US but ordered a 12US. The boot actually fit better than my other frye boots that I purchased. I do suggest if you do have a wide foot order a half size larger. It may feel a bit snug at first, but give it a few wears and it will just break in nicely. I will say the laces are a bit of a challenge to get the perfect feel however, I love these boots!
