Poor Bearing quality and too expensive for the low quality bottom bracket. Unfortunately, it is what works with my crankset. I'll go with Shimano cranksets next time.

I used this to replace the bottom bracket on a 2010 Schwinn Paramount 9, as sold by Performance Bike with FSA SL-K carbon crankset and Dura-Ace drivetrain. There was a once-per-revolution click from the crank area when standing on the pedals or otherwise pedaling hard. To remove the non-drive-side crank, I used an 8mm hex key socket. It is right-threaded, so normal loosen direction. It takes 45-55 Nm to re-torque when done. I made my own bearing cup removal tool from a piece of 3/4-inch copper pipe as shown in the photo. I held it square to the back of the bearing cup and my son tapped the other end about 40 times with a rubber mallet to get the cup out. Same on the other side. I cleaned the area an applied a little grease, and the new cups slid in with hard hand force. I replaced the blue spacer on the drive side, and the wavy washer on the non-drive side.I couldn't detect any roughness in the old bearings, but the clicking is now gone, so I'm happy.

I keep buying these BB because that's what fits my bike and it's the most economical, but I wish there were more options because this BB is garbage! The bearing cartridges seem to start failing quickly after ~500 miles. Cheap ball bearings and bad seal brings out the 'creeeek creeeek' in about 6 weeks. I go through at least 4 sets of these BBs a year and endure the sound as long as I can to get my money's worth @ $50each.I have also tried the $180 FSA ceramic version (way too expensive!), which seemed to last about 9-12months before I shattered the bearings on the left side which seized up the cartridge.I average 40-50 miles every day in Seattle year round, so I do put some wear on the bike, and I was bike mechanic for 5 years. I have never dealt with such poor quality. My next route is to go to a specialty bearing shop and order a bunch of good quality cartridges since I have a ton of BB shells lying around.Buy it if you have to, but expect to need some new cartridges.
