The fuel line was too short for a line trimmer and the filter floated which starved the engine of fuel. We had to go back and use the original weighted filter.

The problem with this is unlike my OEM filter, this one has no weight. The fuel line is pretty stiff so the filter stays high in the tank and when the gas drops down a little you will start getting a loss of power until it stops. THE FIX is to stuff the filter into the bottom of the recess in the fuel tank next to where the lines go into the fuel tank.

Symptoms, rough idling, failure to run, failure to prime, poor throttle response, and eventually outright failure to start--in my case, signs of bad fuel lines to the carburetor.I have a Honda string trimmer with the larger 35cc engine. Shortly into ownership, it began hesitating and at times was hard to start. Even after starting, I had to depress the throttle to keep it running. I never got around to taking it back to the Honda power equipment dealer. Since the string trimmer was still usable, I just continued using it in its present state. Fast forward to April of 2023, I couldn't get it started at all. No matter how much I primed it and pulled the starter cord, it couldn't start.Thankfully, I had time to really look at the tank and fuel lines. I discovered the fuel line was split where it connects to hose barb pick up. Once I replaced it with these fresh new lines, it worked better than it brand new. I suspect that hose had been split from day one, causing the rough running, poor idling and other issues I experienced.I wasn't able to use the supplied grommet where the lines run into the fuel tank. The supplied grommet was way too stiff to get into the fuel tank. I simply ran the new lines into the old Honda grommet (which only required a few seconds), and once everything was re-connected, I was amazed at how well it ran.Even though the grommet didn't fit my GX35 fuel tank, it still fixed the issue and the machine ran like a champ. Plus, for $9.99, you get three sets of fuel line hoses and primer bulbs to last you at least a decade.A solid 5-stars and highly recommended item.
