While this is a handy item to have if you need to lift something I would not go anywhere near the weight limit. I think 800 pounds is unrealistic, the 400 listed in the description is still a stretch. If the handle was longer and it screwed into place instead of the locking button it might do 400 pounds. Since you still need to squat or bend to use this I would have someone else around if you are elderly or have back / knee problems in case you need help. I don't see my grandmother lifting her love seat with this furniture lifter like is shown in one of the pictures. You still need some upper body strength and a good grip to lift things. The lifter did come in handy to lift out a dishwasher from under the counter that was being replaced. Also used it to put some bed risers under a king size bed. For light duty applications I just mentioned this furniture lifter works great. I sat on a folding step stool each time I used it since I already have back problems. The construction of the lifter overall seems fine and all the measurements in the description are correct. Take care of your back and work smart!

run… Don’t walk to get this. I’m a 70-year-old woman and I can lift a bed, my media center, and even a huge desk with this thing. it’s awesome.

Works great. The only problem I had was the rubber pad that was glued on would slip when lifting real heavy furniture.

I tested out this lifter on both furniture and heavy appliances. It worked very well on appliances, but I had mixed results with furniture. The lifter comes in two pieces that connect, making it easier to store. It also comes with 4 blocks that allow you to elevate the lifter to use it under somewhat higher pieces of furniture. An extra pad for the bottom of the lifter was also included, which is a nice tough. The lifter worked spectacularly well on appliances. I had no trouble getting the lifter under the appliance or lifting it with not much effort on my part. With furniture, it worked well with fairly narrow furniture that had a little bit of space available under the piece for placing the lifter. If the furniture was wide and heavy, the lifter felt too small to effectively lift the furniture and keep it elevated in a steady manner. A wider lift would likely avoid this particular issue. The bottom edge of the lifter was also a bit too thick to place underneath wooden furniture that was flat on the floor -- forcing it appeared like it would cause damage to the wood. In this scenario, another person should be available to slightly lift or tilt the wooden furniture to allow the lift to get underneath it. Keeping those few limitations in mind, this lift performed like a champ with everything else I tried it on.
