  • with Built-in Kickst
  • Rubber Feet
  • 12.5" Deep

Gator’s vintage amp-style wooden rack case provides users with a combination of reliable protection and the classic appearance of 50’s & 60’s era amplifiers. Load in your favorite modeling amp, effects processor or recording EQUIPMENT with up to 4U of rack space and 12.5” of rack able depth. The GR-RETRORACK-4BK is wrapped with black Tolex and features a kickstand underneath to angle the rack up towards users to prevent unnecessary bending down for access to and visibility of controls. A removable dust cover lined with salt and pepper-style grill cloth safely masks your gear with the look and feel of a vintage amp, along with 1U & 2U panel spacers with matching grill cloth to clean up empty rack space. The rack also includes spring-loaded side handles and a leather top handle to allow for easy lifting and loading and metal corners for stability. Rubber feet on the bottom provide enough clearance for the enclosure to sit comfortably on Guitar amps & Cabinets, desks and other surfaces. The retro rack series BY Gator helps match your modern rackmount components to the boutique pedals and peripheral effects in your collection.

The Gator cases are well built and look great. I am using them for my Rockman racks. Everything mounted properly with the included hardware.

So, originally I was being cheap and bought this …https://a.co/d/a53UKZmWas a mistake. Very industrial looking, a pain to build, and the door was crooked and hard to lock. So, it was a dumb buy for a home audio studio which lead me to this Gator purchase. Just received it today. Much, much better look and fit. I won’t be moving it, so no issue with not having a back cover.Build quality is very nice. The metal corners , handles, and kick stand are a great add. The front cover gives it a nice guitar amp look from years ago.The only small complaint is more on Amazon. They packaged it in an Amazon box with a couple of inches space around it and zero bubble wrap or styrofoam protection. It doesn’t appear to have any major damage but does have a small indent the size of a fingertip on top. No damage to the leatherette, but slightly noticeable. I can live with it, though wish Amazon would have packaged better.I have not install my gear yet, but am thrilled there’s no dumb hex screws, just regular philips head. Also not having to build it was great too.I would recommend it though I think it should be about $50 cheaper.

As a rack, it meets its goals. It's solidly built, supplied screws and washers are fine, and there are no issues with the construction, and from a distance, it looks good. However, for the price, I would have expected a much better finishing. The fabric covering is peeling way from the inside and is uneven, and it appears slightly stained on the outside - as if the glue has leached through the fabric. Overall because it meets the primary goal of protecting the audio equipment its fine, but I would not buy this again and choose a cheaper, less pretty option.

I bought the black one and I must say, it's very well made. The handles on the sides and and the pop-up leg on the bottom are really good quality and well made. The handle on the top looks a little bit cheap, but no matter, it does what it's supposed to and it works well.Interesting that you can pop the cover on there once it's all mounted, and it really looks like an old vintage combo amp. That's more an esthetic thing than anything else, as the cover has zero functionality.Does the job perfectly, and is solid and robust. I have my AXE FX and a Furman power cleaner mounted in there and it works perfectly. The big plus as well is that the racks are tapped, and all you need to do is just screw in the components you want to install. No stupid clips to fit in holes and things like that. It took me all of 2 minutes to throw the two pieces of equipment in there, tighten it up and call it a day.

My Marshall 9000 preamp and Samson power amp make up a great combo for electric guitar that now not only looks good in this Gator case but are also well protected. I went more for stylish, vintage looks than heavy duty 'on the road' type cases of which there are plenty and I am not disappointed. Nicely finished and ticks all my boxes.

I own a GT Soul-O 75 1x12 combo amplifier, which while completely awesome sounding, weighs like 65 lbs due to all the iron and the huge magnet, so needed to be split up. The chassis was modular and looked like it was already made with a rack install in mind, so when i found this gator enclosure it looked like i was in business.I thought the original amp was 3U deep (with a 1U face plate) and i had another 1U in the original cab for a power conditioner, but in the end it turned out the amp was more like 3.5U - it just BARELY fit in the enclosure and did not leave enough space for my power conditioner. Oh well - not a huge loss there, just need to find somewhere else for that. The finished product looks pretty clean - what you're not seeing in the pics is that i had to cannibalize the original rails from the Soul-O cabinet to mount the fan on the back of the unit because there was nothing there. This is kind of an unusual problem, rear rails aren't needed that often, and if you do, it's not too hard to install although you do need to get them yourself, and make sure you don't use screws that are too long. Another problem i had is the included tweed panel units to cover the unfilled rack spaces are not really big enough to completely fill the space. I have a 1U face plate, and you would think that 3U of panels would do the trick but there appears to be a gap above and below the panel on the bottom - i think this is because i don't really have my head mounted exactly on the 2U space - it's more like half on 1U and half on 2U, due to the size of the amp itself. that's fine i guess, it allows for more airflow, but the perfectionist in me is bothered by it. I guess i wish there were more panels available to buy that matched this unit, ideally in a 2.5U sizeOverall a good enclosure for the money. Handsome, and looks solid, If it came with a .5 panel spacer and rear rack rails preinstalled it would have been perfect.

I was less impressed than what I thought I would be. Unlike a rack case, There is no back cover. So if you want to keep all your cables attached and close up the back, it ain't gonna happen without them falling out. The decorative front grill serves no other purpose and provides no protection. It's also ver flimsy and staples were coming out. Tolex is cheap, has wrinkles and loose spots. Overall very unimpressed with Gators reputation for durability and guality.

Yeah, it’s built like crap like other reviewers have mentioned. Ripped tolex on the top toward the front that was just haphazardly glued back down. Should have been a factory second but welcome to the disposable world we live in now. Super cheaply made front pop in cover panel. A couple pieces of velcro are all that secures it in place. No back cover = cables spilling out the back, which is fine at home but to take this to practice or a show would be a bad idea.So... would I buy it again? Yes. It suits my needs for organizing and storing studio gear that will never leave my house. If you need a rack for any other reason - run away.
