Fit my GE refrigerator perfectly. The only thing available locally was a "universal" replacement hack. I disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated the old motor and used it until this one arrived. The old one worked well enough to see us through for a few days. I'm glad I did, the "universal" replacement was a real hack. Oh yeah, I ordered two and now have a spare in the cupboard above the fridge. Along with a spare defrost lamp assembly. Worth the extra cost to me to save a couple hundred dollars worth of food from spoiling...

I have repaired my GE Side by SIde many times. This was one of the repairs. Installed with no trouble. Seems to run faster than before. Maybe the old one just slowed down over the years and we did not notice. This is a Factory part so the bearings are sealed. Last fan moter lasted 17 years. This one months later is still humming along. Stick to actual OEM PART as I did here.

But OMG, installing it is a pain in the rear. All videos did not have the same copper refrigerant line going across the front of the opening that I had on our GE refrigerator. Impossible to get the fan panel out with the fan attached as there is simply not enough room. So loosened the panel and un-bolted the fan, came out OK. Putting it back on was an exercise in patience as the ground wire that has to go on at that location has very little slack, fan panel can only be rotated a few inches so it was a lot of trial and error to blindly put the back bolt through the grounding wire ring, find the hole in the fan body, align everything, and still have room to actually tighten the bolt. Got it, took 10x longer than anticipated and the fan works great. Just be prepared if your fridge model has refrigerant lines in the way.

My husband and I work like a well-oiled wheel; I troublshoot, he fixes. I have a 12-year-old GE Hotpoint fridge (HSM25GFRE) which decided to stop freezing the day I picked up a bunch of Talenti ice on sale. I pulled the fridge out, the coils weren't particularly dirty (I'd cleaned them off at the end of this spring), and then I noticed that the condenser fan wasn't turning. I watched some youtube videos, felt pretty sure this was the problem, so I found this part and ordered it. Had it 2 days later, my husband removed the old one and installed this one, and it has worked like a charm.About $40 to make the repair, which saved us at least $250 from having to call a repair guy, and much more than if we would have had to buy new appliances.

Works for my Hotpoint fridge. Refrigerator fan started squealing every time the fan came on. Bought this and repaired it myself. Repair was very straightforward. The reason it gets 4 stars is on my particular fridge it was quite difficult to get the fan housing out of the fridge and get this unit swapped in.It is the same size as original, just a bit more challenging than I thought it would be to get the bracket in and out of the condenser area.

Great product. But harder to install than it looks. Don't try to get the fan motor while the housing is in the fridge. There is a single (1/4") bolt that holds in the fan frame housing. Once you remove that it takes about 15 mins of wiggling and struggling to get the housing out...it is really tight in there; but it will come out. I ended up tearing up the foam edging to get mine out..oh well; hope don't need that :p Keep at it; take a break if you have to. Once out, pay very close attention to the orientation of the motor in the housing. You need to be careful to remove and replace the motor in the exact location / tabs etc... also, don't forget the grounding cable. Installation is reverse of removal, and somewhat easier. Not sure why; but mine went in relatively quickly. I'd rank this a 4 out of 10 on difficulty. I'm pretty handy and if you're not afraid to tackle most common household repairs your self, you can do this one successfully. To increase the pressure I had a fridge & freezer full of food....nothing like all of nothing! Good luck and hope this helps.

I had a slight intermittent, high-pitched squeak coming from the back of the fridge. I found one particular video on YouTube to be the most helpful-- it suggested to remove the whole fan assembly, just because it's hard to get to some of those screws on the fan mount. It's a bit of a puzzle/game trying to figure out how to turn and slide out the whole assembly, but eventually it popped right out. I believe I won't be able to use an external URL, so if you know what YT URLs look like, you'll know how to use this: /watch?v=KvUPFHV98Dc (the channel is PartSelect).Be sure to position the rubber motor mounts/bushings in the correct direction. Apparently one of them had flipped out while I pulled the old motor out, and I hadn't realized the part wasn't the same in both sides. I had a hard time squeezing the assembly back together, but I just let the screws pull the parts together. After reinstalling the thing and getting everything running again, I worried that maybe that tight fit wasn't right... and I'd hate the black rubber to be bearing down on that drive shaft if I did assemble it wrong. I pulled the whole thing back out and sure enough, one of the mounts was in backwards. D'oh. Works like a charm now. No more annoying, ultra-high-pitched squeak.Also... taking the whole fan assembly out gives you room to reach the inside of the condenser coils that can't be reached otherwise. If you don't have a coil brush, get one with this purchase. The use a vacuum cleaner hose in one hand and the brush in the other. I normally clean the places I can reach about once every two years. I noticed immediately after cleaning the inside of the coils, I was able to move the temperature dial up one setting (less cold), saving some energy there!
