I sit here wondering if this light is actually worth the money. On the surface I would say no, but after using it I feel swayed. The light is immensly bright and throws a lot of light out there. The functionality of the pivoting light is second to none. The magnet is strong and allows you to mount the base, and then you can pivot the light to where you need it. Its nice that you can just set it on the bench and have it sit over the piece you are working on. The whole thing is very well thought out. An engineering marvel I would say. The whole unit is much smaller than I had imagined, but its perfectly sized to fit in tight spots. The entry price is high but this is a fantastic light.

Instead of the 1000 lumen model I was shipped the wand lamp—so this review is really of the wand light. What I really like:1. There are many ways to position this, and many ways to fasten it onto a surface. It has a strong magnet in the base, there's the hook, and then, the base also turns into a clamp, what will hold on to a tabletop edge (or whatever) up to about 1 3/8 inches thick. The wand light output, which is very wide and even, can be swung into almost any position.2. The wand light can be dimmed—and not only that, it flickers at both the high and low points of the dimming cycle, which is a nice touch that I've really liked on the few headlamps I have that work this way.3. The two "flashlight" options both give nice light, and when the unit is in its folded position, the main spotlight (the brighter one) is very easy to hold and to point.4. A good, and now typical, battery level indicator.5. Overall feeling of good manufacturing—nice use of plastics, everything feels solid. What I don't like:1. The only issue that is not nit-picky is the flap that the USB port has—it is located right under the button, and to make it worse, the little knob is at the top, right where you're always engaging with that button. Ideally, the port should've been moved to another location, but even flipping it, so that the knob is on the bottom would be better. My worry is that the flap will pull out, and the USB port (which is the up-to-date C type) will no longer have any weather protection. Also, every time I press the button, my thumb wants to play with the flap.2. When you dim the wand light, and turn it off, it doesn't remember the last setting, and comes on full blast.3. The instructions are mis-leading, and basically incorrect about how to operate the light. I was able to figure out everything except how to turn the more powerful spot beam on (double click)—which I found the answer for in another review.4. The blister pack plastic is unusually heavy; the lamp was a pain to get out.So, overall, I think the execution of the product is close to 5 stars, beyond my few concerns. The instructions are 1 or 2 stars, but it's not that complicated a device, so just be patient with it. Even though this was not the lamp I ordered, or was expecting, I'm keeping it, and it may end up being more useful for my purposes than the 1000 lumen model.

This is right up there with the Caterpillar and DeWalt LED work lights I own--adjustable, easily-aimed, rechargeable, bright.A quality light in every way from Gearwrench. You can get cheaper shop lights than this kind of quality, but quality lights last and last--through thick and thin, falls and chemicals--where cheaper lights are semi-disposable.This is a fine, useful, solidly-built light in every way.

I ordered a different model, but received the stick light instead, good light though. I had wanted the 1000 lumen model, but received a different light so I'll review it. It is nice and small, but very bright and easy to switch modes. The magnetic base base is nice to have. Pretty nice light.

Bright flashlights are a dime a dozen (well, $10 a dozen) today, so this needs to really perform to merit the $20 price. And, it does - if anything, it's TOO bright, especially the side lamp.To switch from one lamp to the other, you have to hold the switch button down - not very intuitive in an emergency, but a common UI (I happen to really dislike). But it offers a lot -End light: 2 brightness levels, plus flasher, on each quick button press.(If you don't press again quickly, the next click will shut that lamp off - a nice touch, that!)Side light: Hold for 2-3 seconds to switch to it, then Bright, Dim, Red, Flashing Red.Similarly, if you don't keep pushing the button, it will turn off on next click. It also 'remembers' last action, so if you turned it off in Side Light Mode, it will come back on in that mode, and setting (ie, if blinking when shut off, it will come back in that mode next time you turn it on. This is a bit annoying, but I can see the sense of it.The magnet is really strong. Be sure not to leave it behind on a cabinet somewhere (ask me how I know? Took me months to find it again!)Another nice feature: the flat side light, and/or the belt clip, prevent it from rolling away. The backlight power button helps prevent accidentally leaving it on, pointing down and draining the battery. Some flashlights have crenelated ends to make it easier to see (remember) when you dont' that, so a bit of extra 'awareness' is required for this one, but could be lots worse.Easily a 5 star light for the money.A good 'in the car' light - IF you keep it charged up.
