I occasionally work around radiation and wanted a simple meter that I could use to verify that the environment is safe while working. This meter looks like (and is) a good buy at the listed price so I thought I'd give it a try.The good:The meter is rechargeable through the commonly available type-C 5V connector so it is easy to keep charged. No need to keep a stock of batteries. The meter is easy to use with only a couple of settings (vibration and audible alarm on/off and auto-shut off enable. The meter seems to work and produce useable readings. It has an average and maximum detected value display as well as the live (current) value. There is a little filtering on the displayed value so it might take a few seconds to display if the measured value displayed quickly. The display is easy to read and does have a background light that works great if working in low-light areas. The audible and vibration alarm are good (especially for my desired use) but are limited (see below). The not quite so good:The documentation is good as far as it goes but it does not provide enough details in a few areas. I'll trey and add some of that missing information here. The alarms work but there is no ability to set the thresholds . Experimentation shows that there are two threasholds. The firsl level (slow beep) kicks in at 1.0 uSv/Hr. A faster, more urgent alarm kicks in at 2.5 uSv/Hr. These values are fixed and cannot be changed or set. Also, the automatic power-off function is a power down after 10 minutes (this is also not documented)The documentation has a paste on correction that the charging mode light is green and turns red when charged but the reality is the opposite. Red means charging and the light turns green after a charge.Other:The product description page seems accurate but, elsewhere on the web I've seen this device described as a dosimeter. I would not describe this device that way since it does not provide accumulated dose. It is a survey or measurement meter. This isn't a ding, just a caution to make sure that performing current measurement (and not accumulated dose) is what you need when considering this device.I tested the device using a live beta source and it does indeed detect beta as well as gamma/X-ray radiation. The tube (sensing area) does not appear to be under the plastic in the upper back of the device as documented but closer to the center of the back of the device. This isn't important unless you are doing close measurement of relatively weak or beta levels but it is good to know. The device comes with a charging cable and a very nice zippered soft case that will protect the device and display surface when not in use. This is really nice if you will be keeping the device in a toolkit or backpack. The included documentation is good but incomplete (I've described the missing information above as best I can.)All-in-all, a nice device and what seems to be a good value.
